I am thinking of going there during the family day long weekend. I've booked a room with 2 queens at Best Western in the town of Fernie for 3 nites.

You think I be able to get cheaper rooms at those on-hill lodges/hotels...possibly with lift tix?

What are some of the on-hill accomodations that are good and reasonable?

On hill is 90% of the time more money then in town. the best place to stay is in spare wood then take the short drive to the hill. My freinds and i when we go there stay in spar wood and save a few hundred each.

its' way nicer to stay right at the lodges on the mountain. good deals too. i mean you can snowbaord rigth to your door.

I stayed on the hill, very nice & convenient but of course more expensive.

Go with what's more important to you.
Price or convenience.

best skii hill ever! i dont like anywhere else, well laid out and not crowded (most of the time) it is a VERY big hill and you will need a few days to hit all the runs at least

silverTEG
awesome hill, good snow.... i stayed on the hill for cheap with lift passes.

i prefer panorama though.

i'll be there the same weekend. We rented a 4600sqf house. Only like $2500 split between like... uhhh 25??! ahah

4 mountains. All runs amazing. What more could you ask for. Fernie = the best

Fernie is awesome this year. I was there over new years, and I hope to go back at least one more time. I don't think you'll find just accommodations cheaper on the hill, but you might find package deals. The SPARWOOD idea is a good one as well.

If you want to stick with the Best Western, buy your lift tickets from Downhill Riders before you go. You'll save about $10/ticket (IIRC, don't quote me :D ).

Fernie is my second favourite mountain of all time. My #1 is Kicking Horse, but only because the terrain is a little more difficult, and the abundance of Champagne Powder. I definitely like the layout of Fernie, and they get a lot of snow, but because it is so low, it doesn't stay very "light" for long.

Have fun!

i stayed at a place called the Stanford inn.

really nice condos if you have a family going, and out room even had a ping pong table in it, and slept 8:thumbup:

definitely go to the curry bowl for dinner, very nice and worthwhile experience and food...

Does anyone know any Fernie bars/clubs in the town that are good? Top 40ish/r&B selection? Thanks.

lol the original post for this thread was in 2006....and as for the person asking about place that plays top 40 / r&b theres only like 3 bars in town, we went to two of them, one was a pub, and the other was called the royal, the royal was pretty bumpin...

bw54867
you don't go to fernie looking for bumping clubs, go to banff or whistler for that

if you want some sick powder and short lift line ups fernie can't be beat imo

shredzoo7
Ok sweet, we'll check out the royal on the weekend. Thanks dude

Just thought i'd check out the local scene that's all. I agree though Whistler and banff is awesome for parties.
