CanuckDave
Went to check out the auto show this morning, and took some pics. ZR auto made a great showing this year, nice to see the Enzo, S7, Carerra GT etc.. seeing them made it worth the admission right there.

anyway, here are my pics:

Solstice (very comfortable and well designed, best I've seen in a GM car)

Mallett LS2 solstice:

C6 'vette

Carerra GT

Aston Martin DB9

Novitec F430 engine bay

f430 spyder

Lotus elise

Ferrari Enzo

would have got more pics of it, but the fact that it was yellow combined with the agricom lighting made it very difficult to get good shots..

That's an interesting license plate on the Nissan... JDMBLNG

Did IC finally sell the car or is there a reason Autodream has a sticker on it ?

Fantastic Photo's man, it's like you were at a different show then the rest of us!!

noriceforme
did you ever upgrade the full system cuz you should of blown that camaro away on the dyno?

ChromeDragon
Haha, you love that 50mm huh Dave? A few of the shots could stand to have the aperature stopped down a bit, but not bad at all.

CanuckDave
heheh yeah, the 50 is a great lens, but I want to get a good wide angle for this like this now.. hard to get back far enough to get a decent shot when there are a lot of people around.

Malaria
that DB9 is the volante :D

Highlight for me definitely was the Lotus. That thing is gorgeous in person.

Sooo tiny, yet it can put it's boots to sooo many asses :D

Anyone else notice that every single car parked down the 780tuners row had at least one shop decal on it?

Is this because none of the DIY'ers put a car in this year?

d.maczko
who said that the vert FC was missing the front mount?!
lmfao

anyways, good show none the less, very impressed by the ZR booth. damn those middle aged doctors and their money.

My only complaint was that there wasn't much variety. Pretty much looked like a nissan meet. I mean it is not the nissan guys fault, but I'm dissapointed there wasn't more variety. That and most of the cars were rhd.

Funniest thing I heard all show (and I heard a ton of funny and or stupid comments) was these two guys walking buy the 780Tuners section and the one said
"what is with the used car lot section?"
2nd guy "they are rhd cars from japan"
1st guy "great, a japanese used car lot"

car
D-sport is not 780tuners.

Jason,

I'm presuming that when the owners found out they were going to be in a show, they made some phone calls and hooked up sponsors for cash, thus the stickers.

That's what I would do anyhow.

Cheers,

Tim

Well, two possibilities:

1) The owners of those cars were sell outs and only put the stickers on there for money, or parts, etc. (as you're suggesting).

or...

2) The shops really did have a significant role in the project.

But whatever... to each their own of course.

Deep_Blue
Jason,

In this case I would agree that it would be selling out. Although I said "that's what I would do" I was speaking more from a pragmatic perspective than what I would actually do. I am proud that I do the work on my car myself and wouldn't put decals on it for pretty much anything really (some exceptions). One exception is when you are invited to a really high profile show and can't afford to pay for it yourself, that's when sponsors who hand you cash for decals are good. A lot of guys that go to USCC do that for example.

The only car I can comment on at the show is the Laurel, which had no decals on it at all in October when I watched it dyno, but now has tons of decals on it. I don't think the decals are related to work done on the car because the only changes I noticed were some VERY minor underhood changes (the engine bay looks clean now!), so I could hardly presume why they are there.

Cheers,

Tim

well i put those stickers up because andrew asked me if he can, and i really dont care if they're up or not, autodream stickers were there for no reason, d-sport because i was helping out andrew and i got that spot for free, other than that i just wanted to show the car to the public as well as it was the only opportunity to see the car really low to the ground. i hope this helps
