what is NPA-NXX ?
the plan sound good to average customer (minus the coporate and dealer account)
I want in, where did you get it ? |
|
|
| nizaam |
NPA = Numbering Plan Area, aka your area code. (780 is edmonton, 403 calgary, 604 bc.. etc.. )
NXX = your exchange, so basically the first 3 digits of your phone number.

NPA-NXX
is the first 3 digits of your phone number |
|
|
| Qoo |
| so my home phone # is (780) 437 XXXX then it is no good ? |
|
|
| nizaam |
it shouldent matter what your home phone number is...
i think it means you can only get a local edmonton number if you sign up with this plan...
eg.. if you sign up you can have a number like 780 441 XXXX or 780 945 XXXX for the cell, but you cant sign up for this plan and get a 780 437 XXXX or 403 254 XXXX

| Qoo |
| great then..now I need a rogers rep. |
|
|
| Casanova |
starts today.. only for Edmonton... evenings start at 6pm. I believe it would also be eligible for 6 months unlimited local calling as well, possibly 35 dollar bill credit...
what it basically saying is it has to be an edmonton phone number. cannot be for any other area code. |

^ so you say Telus is better ?
btw, you can either put on 2 or 3 yr contract |
|

nah, I'm with Bell.
Never had a problem with them in over 5 years.
500 day time minutes
unlimited everything else (text, browsing, etc.)
voicemail
caller id
call waiting
free evenings and weekends starting at 6
all for the lovely price of $40 a month and that includes system activation fee. |

| different strokes for different folks.. I have good reception with Rogers, I used to have good reception with telus. six of one half a dozen of the other. every carrier has their gaps. I chose to not go with telus anymore because I dislike them, everything they stand for, their arrogance etc etc. but i know other people that dont go with rogers for the same reason. MEH |

saw an ad the in paper today about this plan. comes with evenings and weekends starting at 6 pm and 3 months unlimited local calling and text messages.
im stuck on a much more expensive bell plan albeit its 700 daytime minutes instead of this one at 200. Still though, for this price im going to get the gf setup. |

WHat frustrates me is when i get a deal with them and ive been with rogers going on 5 years now , and then they make promos and i dont see any benefit.
Rightnow im 40 dollars a month with Unlimited text message , Caller ID , Voicemail , Unlimited weekends and evenings and 250 weekday minutes with all your little taxes and 911 fees its 47.25 a month , if you subtract the voicemail caller ID package i save 9 bucks so its like a 30 dollar plan with goodies... either way bell sucks in vancouver cause you get such awful numbers with a new area code Rogers vs Telus is the battle and telus had horrible numbers too.
Either way , promo or no promo get a provider that works in your area, like for me Rogers in my area owns, but if i lived anywhere else i would probably go with Telus. No matter how good a deal is , if you have no service its kinda pointless |

| I thought Roger's free evenings were from 6pm-6am, not till 8am? At least that's what I think mine is. :dunno: |

Just signed up on this deal, anyone else do it?
Way better than my telus plan. I get more minutes, and better service.
Telus I was paying 45+ a month.
For the same thing with caller Id, and earlier evenings, it costs me 32. |

Here's what I did, I called Fido, told them "I'm canceling because I found a better deal on Rogers"
After alot of arm twisting, they matched the deal, but are only waving the call display and monthly access fees for 6 months. After that, I get 250 daytime minutes, free evenings and weekends 5 pm to 6 am.
When the 6 months are done, I go back to what I'd be regularly paying on my current plan, but I get the unlimited evenings and weekends and 100 extra daytime minutes. Not to bad for investing 2.3 hours on the phone with the shitty "fido save team" |

| Telus claims that they'll match the deal as well, but knowing they're customer service it will take 5 hours of haggling. Play hardball with these phone companies and they'll be surprisingly flexible in what they offer. |

no rogers will do anything sales-wise to get a client because their coverage sucks, they spend their money giving deals and promos, wheras telus and bell spend their money improving their reception coverage |

Roger's GSM technology is considered far superior to Telus/Bell and their CDMA technology in many areas of Canada. |

i'm not sure on your source for information, so i'll take what you say to be true, however i have a telus phone, dad has bell and mom has rogers, and the rogers phone is the first to lose reception, doesnt matter where we are or what province or state. |

i must agree, with rogers buying out fido it has created a huge usable network with 850 and 1900.
Also being able to just carry your phone book over to a new phone on your sim is very handy. I have used that many times with my constant ebay phone swapping.
I also find my service to be far better when in northern sask. My aunt uses telus and up at her lake she has to go to hill  . this time i just sit back in my car or go out on to the lake |

Telus spent 45 mins on the phone with me trying to work out a deal to keep me on the plan. Saying how their plan is cheaper blah blah blah.
Then I just kept raising the question how come my 50 dollar plan is cheaper with Rogers.
She said she would match it/give me a better deal. But I refused. I hate telus, they are a joke. |
