Bang for the buck - Click HERE for Original Thread

Speaking STRICKLY about BHP what car has the best bang for the buck and the worse bang for the buck.

Cars must be a 6 CYL or less , have a import theme and sold in Canada.
All $ are Canadian selling not US conversion.
My vote for worse is a TT Supra $80,000/300BHP=$266/BHP That's bad.

MY vote for best is a 2G Talon TSI $26,000/215BHP=$120/BHP That's OK.

The lower the Dollar per BHP the better.

I don't know every car so everyone post what they can while staying with in the format.

Ah shit wrong area , mod please move this thread sorry.

redbaron303
I think my approx. 270hp NIssan 300zx for $2500.00 is a damn good bang for buck, even new it was only maybe $28K-$30K....

I don't feel like doing math, but I think the NIssan 350Z and S2K (in their class) are great for the money... better than an audi tt or boxster or z4 for the money IMO!

MightyMidget
I am kinda biased but

Subaru Impreza WRX 227BHP for $35,000

oh ya and the ...blah screw it....even if the rex isnt as cheap as the other cars it still gets my vote
worst = new BMW mini...too much $$$ not enough horsies

redbaron303
I agree about the Mini, although it's such a cool little car... I would buy that versus a honda any day if it didn't cost so much! OH well...

1mns13
A 1st gen talon would get my vote for bang for buck from new. I think it is a moot point to people who want to go fast/be the fastest. It doesn't take a bang for buck car for that. If a person wants bang for buck it shows they are financially/dream limited. A JZA80 wins my vote for easiest car able to buy off the showroom floor to hit 1000hp.

mrprecidia
The new neon srt4 is crazy bang for the buck....but is looks like ass :moon:

1mns13
I second the Neon SRT-4. I was thinking of used cars at new.

redbaron303
It's still a neon.... and won't be a consideration in my books! Oh well.!

Thanks for diluding the thread and not reading it before commenting.
Feel free to try it again with in the format or maybe start your own thread in regards to what you said.

RezaREX
I'll vote for the WRX :D

redbaron303
rezarexs mom.... you get a good bang for a buck w/ her!

I was thinking about maybe that new protoge mazdaspeed turbo version?

SlowAzzPorsche911T
nahhhhhhh the best bang for your buck is a chevy corvette :D come on think about it... a '03 Corvette is 80,000 and they have 350 hp.... that's 228ish/h.p and with the styling you can't go wrong :) or how about a Dodge Viper RT/10 120.000 and 450 h.p.... 267ish/h.p 'nuff said

cua0
the new WRX STi gets my vote if the msrp is the same as the current one.

Hey that is probably right up there with the best.
I forgot about that one.

v8slayer
Let me re-phrase what I said.

Putting everything aside including what you like personelly what 6 CYL and smaller import theme car sold in Canada has the best HP/$$$ ratio and which has the worse HP/$$$ ratio.

Please try to stay on topic and put all personel feelings aside.
Lets just stay with the math , no looks , no cornering , no favs , no bikes.

I still say my origional 2 from my first post.

Care to put a year limit on the question?

Other wise I'll pick a 1967 Datsun 510 with had something like 90hp for $2K:
$22 per Hp!

For new cars the new Altima or Accord, both have 240-245hp, for $29,XXX: ~$120/hp
... and the NSX is the big fat loser: ~$500/hp Ouch.

dogstar
best bang for the buck:
neon SRT
~220 horses/~26000 = very approximate $118/hp

worst bang for the buck:
mclaren f1
cant remember horses/1000000 = a lot per hoss.

JDC™
still gonna say any generation awd DSM. For the amount of power produced, potential to produce, and the added traction of all wheel drive the price is pretty damn good.

SlowAzzPorsche911T
alrite my bad.. didn't see the v6 or less thing.. it's definately the WRX STi for current models... for older I'd say a porsche 911 rs america

It will be this year.

darkman

==================

You think that is bad? For the exotic cars side, the NSX is one of the better ones. The ferrari F50 for example, would be about $1385/hp. I'd bet you wouldn't call that a big fat loser now would ya?

Is the F50 a 6 banger or less.

mitsuman
F50 would be a V12!

darkman
CRAP! I've misread again and as usual. My bad. In that case the NSX is terrible!

Loose
If we're going to include the Neon, we have to include the Cavalier VL!!!

140 hp, $15,785......$113/hp WINNER!

Or a strictly import, the Kia Rio S, 104hp, $12,350:
$119/hp :gay:

The Kia Rio S is the best import BANG for the BUCK car of 2003 , and the NSX is bunk.

FingerPuppet
Ya, but BHP isn't everything.
What about weight? Torque? Ratio?

sil_eighty
the nissan 180sx with a jdm swap is the best bang for the buck....car with blown motor=1500-2000.....sr20det=3000-4000.....
can get 271hp(13.5psi) to the wheels with bigger intercooler, boost controller
exhaust (stright), air filter, fuel controller
so for like 10 000 u have a rear wheel drive moster!!

That's not what the question asked!

... sold in CANADA ...

The car you describe was never sold in Canada. Worse yet, we are talking about FACTORY performance #'s, not HP aquired with aftermarket parts. Topic.

Subaru Impreza WRX 227BHP for $35,000

LS1-V8
How about a stock Pontiac FIREHAWK 345bhp for $52000= 155/bhp

But if you buy mine I'm sellin mine for about $32000 = 95.55/bhp

SO NOW WHAT'S A WINNER

I'm serious about selling and you can quote me on this price at any time

Go to Market place and check out the thread if interested

http://www.v8less.com/programs/forum/index...=ST&f=13&t=4014

specv
A Nissan Spec-v 175hp/180tq 2.5ltr engine msrpbase approx 25000
142/bhp
the 5k you save can be spent on turbo to push power and torque to 225-250 and have a light tight handling car.
I think talons and Eclipses are good too though

Drifted
1986 dodge omni glhs......178 hp/200 lb/ft of torque for arround $6500
:moon: looks like ass as well thoe

ChromeDragon
This whole thread reinforces my theories on people that are uneducated regarding vehicles buying them for higher HP numbers.

Chromey

TyPhOOnSliPPerY
how about an old 82-84 mustang 5.0 ....$500 ....200hp maybe .....now that worth it ..... -_-

S13Sean
Neon SRT-4 hands down. Boost controller and exhaust= some serious whoop-a$$

Also try using www.google.ca Supra TTs weren't$80,000 Vipers were and C5s were but not Supras.

The worst would be a Porsche 959 $320,000 for 450hp yeesh

Drifted
i do love that neon B)

S13Sean
I love the Omni GLH, reminds me of my GTI. Do you know the Omni uses a VW/Audi block? ;)
