Who inspired, changed & affected you the most in your life ?
For myself, it would have to be my Sociology professor Ineke Locke and Philip Yancey the author of "What's So Amazing About Grace?"
Ineke Locke taught me to view life critically, that things aren't always as it seems and that you have to do what you feel is right in your life to achieve a higher level of personal meaning and satisfaction.
Philip Yancey for stirring my mind into realizing that there is so much to be grateful for in life and that one truly has the ability to see the positive in even the most negative of situations.
Of course I can't leave out my long time girlfriend, who's supported and encouraged me in all my aspirations no matter how silly some of them seemed. |

You, Terry, have been the greatest inspiration.
Some day, hopefully I too can be a poll master like yourself. I don't know whereI would be today without your polls. |

From an author point of view... CS Lewis, teacher , Mr Rouser both helped me expand my thinkin and helped me continue my writing.
Otherwise my folks and the wookeys. Always been there for me , ups and downs and so forth. And i guess Perry Elderbroom for makin the goalie i was for my best years which has allowed me to carry on hockey to this point... |

wow.. My trainers mostly, their dedication and although it took me awhile to grasp, their knowledge that there is always another way to get the same result without punishment.
The best advise they ever gave me was sit up, look ahead and heels down, the fence is behind you and you need to be thinking about whats going to happen next, not what has already happened. |

| My folks and Ayn Rand the author of the "The Fountainhead" and "Atlas Shrugged".Her views on how man should view himself and his work has really made an impact on me.A quote of hers that I always try to measure up to,"My philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute." |

I have 3 I can think of.
My dad is a huge influence on my life. I am just like him, sometimes it can be quite scary.
another is a friend I had years back, he was one of the most incredible people I had met. I still cannot explain what it was about him, he was like a guardian almost.
and last but definatly not least is the person whom I fell very hard in love with. he is so amazing, and his perceptions and the person he is has definatly affected me and makes me feel like i am able to do anything. He has taught me so much about myself and how i view things and that all you need to do to change what you want to is alter your perception of it.

| It's weird how sometimes the strangest people impact us in the biggest ways. One person that had an impact on me was an older (40+) waitress at a resteraunt I worked for in high school. She was one of the kindest people I ever met, and always had an awesome attitude. |

The girl who made me challenge myself and my thinking. My soulmate and my wife.
Two people who influenced my thinking:
Bruce Lee. The man never knew when to stop, never knew limits, and constantly pushed himself to be better. His abilities and levels of physical capabilities were unatural and unsurpassed.
Despite being shunned by his own race, some may argue that this man is responsible for the openess and free thinking world of martial arts that we know today.
Sir Ranulph Fiennes, a revered British SAS commando who was credited with putting a stop to the advancement of Communist rebel forces while under the command of the Sultan of Oman.
July 2003, Ranulph suffers a massive heart attack, to which the doctors say he would never recover from.
2 November 2003, four months later, the start of the Land Rover 7x7x7 Marathon Challenge, which ended at the finish line of the 2003 ING New York City Marathon. Sir Ranulph runs seven marathons in seven consecutive days on seven continents, becoming the first human to do so alongside Dr. Mike Stroud.
Power of the human spirit. That is what drives me. |

| A guy that started working for my dad in 1979 as a aluminum welder. He had a motorcycle, corvette and a cool VW dune buggy. I apprenticed under him for a bit and his work ethic, morals, home life, financial situation all is great. When ever I'm around him and his family a guy always feels good, just gives off good carma I guess. Anyway he has always heen a good friend and almost like a father figure but some one you can have a real good time with. I could go on forever about this guy and how great he is but he's the man and I owe alot of where I'm at to him, thanks Paul. |

Good for you man :)
It's good to know that you chose an adverse situation as a significant influencing factor in your life and came around to find a positive from it
Going on this theme of yours, the boarding school I attended and first year of university made me lose everything I gave importance to and ultimately made me see life in an entirely different way. |

the way my dad saw it was, i got expelled from one school, it doesnt stop me from doing it in another school. and i wasnt passing any courses i had there, so he moved me here so i had a second chance. i screwed up royally in junior high, and graduated from high school half a year early. the good thing about it is i might have found a career path that id like to follow as my old schools never offered the courses.(bc is all about universitys while its all about trades here) |

My nabour, Ivan. Strapted my 13 year old ass to a 300 hp snowmobile and tought me the finer points of drag racing. Tought me how to properly re-build engines with an attetion to detail i have yet to find anyone come close to.
The amount of knolage this man passed on to me is unimangineable. He had done so much and had accomplished so much in the racing seen. |

Everyone as a whole made an impact on my life. From all the "good" people i've met... i tried to be more like them. For all the bad people i've met.... i've come to realize what i don't wanna be like or turn into.
Don't get me wrong.. i ain't no angel... but i'm trying dammit! :p |

I keep coming back to this thread, trying to figure out the answer and honestly I can't.
I don't know what that means and how to interpret it, but I really can't think of someone who influences my life, or has drastically changed it.
Maybe that person is still on their way? |
