Opel GTC Hints at Next Astra

If you have been wondering what the next Astra will look like, perhaps you should give this stunning new concept car a bit of time. This is Opel's GTC Genève, a three door sports sedan, which will pave the way for the upcoming replacement of the compact car. GTC in the name stands for Grand Turismo Concept, and is most likely named Genève in honour of the show that it will be unveiled at. This is a sneak peek at the real Astra which will make its debut at the IAA in Frankfurt Germany later this year.

The GTC Genève has been designed with a purpose. It is a sort of statement, to tell the world to expect a change from the company. This concept carries new levels of technology and innovation. Opel has equipped the GTC with an active suspension, and adaptive chassis for comfortable and fun driving. Yet, as the name suggests, it is also perfect for relaxed driving - this concept can seat four adults in comfort.

Appearance-wise, the GTC Genève is a very appealing automobile. It takes the essence of many of Opel's lines, and amplifies them into something much more sharp, and vivid. It's for the better too - the car looks much more interesting with heavily pronounced arches, large alloy wheels, and three-dimensional clear tail lights. If it's a little too 'in your face' for you, chances are, Opel will tone the these down on the production version of the car.

From front to back the car uses shades to bring out the natural shape of the car. As you can see, the body is finished in a lovely shade of champagne silver. The windows are tinted quite darkly, and the windshield spans from front to back of the car, much in the same way the Peugeot 307 SW's does. Behind the glass is a modern, yet luxurious interior. It's made up of a swooping dashboard, complete with leather trimmed seats, and easy to use controls. If this is the way the Astra is headed, Ford's Focus, and Renault's Mégane are in for some serious competition.

| Nice looking ride but i cant help but think the rear is not that pretty looking. Mabye its just me but designers are really grasping for straws. |
