Ok, I am revved for this event,
US vs Canada?
Penn vs St. Pierre?
I'm gonna have to give this one to St. Pierre. He's had more ring time in recent months than Penn has and Penn doesn't seem to be anywhere near the level of fitness he was at when he was still fighting. Still, I take nothing away from the guy, but I think St. Pierre will kill him.
Franklin vs Loiseau?!
Franklin beat Tanner, just barely, and Loiseau put Tanner down for the count HARD. Loiseau for the win with elbows?.
Discuss!. |

The card is stacked against Canada. It'll be something like 6-2 US.
As long as GSP wins, I don't care. |

| GSP, all I care about for this one. He's very deserving and should be moving up the ladder a little quicker I think. |

GSP vs Penn- GSP by submission in round 2
Franklin vs Loiseau- loiseau by elbow strikes |

Agreed...but only if he can get Franklin to the ground. |
|
|

| your right but i think that franklin has ok take down defence, eventually he will hit the ground |

I disagree. I think Loiseau doesn't need to take Franklin down. Loiseau's standup is just as good as Franklin's, if not better. Loiseau is going to crush Franklin. I have no idea how Franklin got where he is today he is one of the most overrated fighters. |
|
|
| JDMBoi |
| how do you figure franklin is an overated fighter have you seen his record hes 19 - 1, i dont know how many fights youve seen of his but he deserves to be where he is |
|
|
| Insomniac |
| I don't know who will win. Loiseau has more tools in the standup but Frankil moves so well and has much better hands. I'd love to see Franklin on his back getting hit by those damn axes of Loiseau, LOL. |

His record is pretty inflated. He hasn't fought many quality opponents. |
|
|
| JDMBoi |
| i know he hasnt fought all top guys and he somewhat has to prove himself still but after what he did to evan tanner he should have the belt |
|
|
| ohboyitsme |
| Does Tanner deserve to be ranked as top fighter though? Whenever he fights one of the top guys he gets destroyed. He doesn't seem to be to make that leap to become a true top fighter IMO. |
|
|
| Insomniac |
| If you guys think Franklin is overated, name the 185'rs you'd rank ahead of him. Bet you can't name too many |
|

You are right. It is a pretty weak weight class for UFC. Short of the canadians. Maybe I'm a little biased.
Lets see though...
Horn, Loiseau, St. Pierre are three of my favorites |
|
|
| BlueTurboEGG |
I just cannot believe how much ring experience Horn has.
He's got like what, 76 wins and 20 something losses?. |
|
|
| ohboyitsme |
| Horn has been around a long time. Back then you did multiple fights in one night. 1996 is the first fight they have listed for him on sherdog. |
|
|
| JDMBoi |
franklin is not overrated, tanne IMO does deserve to be amoung the top 10 at least...
horn record is pretty big but travis fulton is bigger hes 167-41-9 |

So I found out quite by accident Red's was showing UFC last night....
Wow! Some good fights last night. I'm also going to man up and eat my words. Franklin looked great out there last night. It was dissapointing that Loiseau lost but he kept at it and never gave up.
The GSP vs. Penn was great too. I was kind of worried after the first round but George kept at it and ended up winning. |

| GSP is the #1 welterweight fighter, i never doubted him for a minute |

| franklin is fucking awesome. definately not over-rated. nobody's come close to giving him a run for his money. lousieau did an okay job, but got outworked and out smarted. |

GSP vs Penn was one of the best fights of that night next to the Hominick and Edwards, great, great fights.
Fraklin vs Loiseau was quite dissappointing after being entertained so well early on... yuck. |

Loiseau lost it mentally.
I was blown away by BJ. His skillz are retarted. |

It certainly looked that way, he just shut down. Whenever he did compose himself, it did seem like he was a contender, but that hardly happened.

You mean that cheap ass thumb in the eye? :) |

My favorite thing about Penn is you look at his build and you think wtf did this guy even train for the fight and then he usually walks dominates his opponent. It's awesome to see him fighting again. If you get a chance to watch some of his old UFC and pride fights.

GSP fight was great. Now that he won all the Penn nutthuggers on Sherdog are making excuses saying it was the judges fault
bla bla bla. GSP is now finally gonna get his revenge on Hughes.
The Franklin fight actually did not suprise me, but I though the Crow would of at least landed a couple hard elbows. You got to give them both credit for working hard for 5 rounds.
Also I'm happy that Mike Swick won, and finally got more than 25 seconds of ring time before he wins. Swick is turning into quite the young fighter, and he is funny. The swickatine. |

YOu can see that the guy has raw ablity like no other. Fedoresque IMO. |

For sure, I can see BJ's got alot of ability and awareness, but I think George would've been much more active had he not been goinked in the eye. Had George not had a cut eye, he may have been able to avoid the uppercut that clipped his nose, who knows?.
It sucks to see something like that happen in a fight because the excuses will aways haunt it. But it certainly was good to see The Rush come out of top, he worked hard for it. |
|
|
| the_fornicator |
the cut in the eye definately affected GSP's strategy cause then he's gotta babysit a cut otherwise it could get gashed open even more.
I'm still kind of wondering why Penn didn't go to town at the end when he had GSP's arm in that weird-ass leg lock. I'm sure if he woulda went to town, he could have taken the round. |

| It was scary to see how BJ was picking apart GSP with the jab. I think they eye had something to do with it, but BJ still looks to be the better striker. |

Im sure if GSP wouldnt of been seeing 2 BJ's it would of been a different story, but I was expecting BJ to come out full force. We cant forget he has beat one of the best p4p fighters in the world Gomi. |

And GSP did the right thing by keeping his distance with (surprisingly) accurate kicks.
I doubt you'd fare much better against an equal opponent if you were seeing double from a cheap ass thumb in the eye.
So nope, not feeling the BJ Penn train. :p |

That is a no brainer. Sylvia is not a very high caliber fighter at all. AA isnt the best heavyweight either, but he is much better that Sylvia and he showed that last time they fought.
UFC really really needs to throw out some hardcore cash and try to bring over some Pride fighters with real talent like Hunt, big Nog, Crocop, Aleks or the monster Fedor.
The big fight for me in Reality Check is Tito vs Forrest. I really enjoy watching Forrest fight and he has a great personality but this is gonna be one hell of a war. Tito is by far the best fighter he has been matched up with. My gut slightly favours Tito but I would really like to see Forrest pull this one off. |
