I'm ready to import a Mitsu Pajero Diesel. (finally sold wifey's car, she gets mine, and I get a JDM - good deal all around).

you will like a Pajero ... my friend has had one for six months and it is great and especially for the price compared to a hilux or landcruiser

Oh I know! :D This will be my fourth mitsu 4x4. I've had two Raiders and one Montero. But this'll be my first diesel. :)

Is your friend local, ie Calgary? What year/model did he get?

What Year are you getting? I had a 83 D50(mitsu) with a 2.3L TD, very nice.. low HP TQ ratings but for working, not racing, it pulled awesome. I oulled a trailer a 3.9L v6 had troubles with and didn't even know it was there. But hte engine went pop on the highway one -40 degree day...

Anyhow.. I wanna know what you think of it when you get it, I'm deciding what do to when my Fifth dies, Orrr to get a pajero as a winter vehicle.

I'm getting a 91. That's the first year of the GenII, with AWD/4WD. 2.5-4D56 TD intercooled is basically a stroked version of your 4D55 as you probably know. The genII has some improvements over the genI (the boxy one). Bigger rear diff/trailing arms, uprated front suspension, hi pinion front and rear diffs, lockup torqe converter in the auto, available rear air locker, slightly more aerodynamic, and of course a viscous coupled center diff, to allow AWD mode, but lockable for true 4Hi/4LO too.

I've already had three genI's: two SWBs and one LWB, one of them a 2.6-4 and two 3L V6s. I liked the shortie better, so that's what I'll be going with, but of course the oil burner version. :D

You're welcome to come down and check it out when I get it. Buddy of mine bought my LWB GenI in August, and its still around town too. My 4x4 club will soon have 2 mitsu 4x4s. hard to believe... ;)

fine choice!

Ya, and the 2.8L is a bored and stroked version of my 2.3L.

My major decision part is a lwb or swb, I like the swb for everyday driving, but the lwb, might be more partical for those time I need the extra room, which would be a couple times a year....

WOW, thats the cleanest engine bay I've seen thus far for a Pajero.

I was really impressed with this truck as it was such a good running clean vehicle for a friend of mine and I was glad
