| if he had a pink ticket and didnt' go to court then there will be a warrent out for his arrest simple as that. if he gets pulled over or a cop runs his name he will be cuffed and taken to jail. he has a bigger problem then a fine now |

| yuup unfortunately my best friend had the misfortune of this happening to him.. got a summons to court, didn't show up.. arrest warrant issued for failure to appear... i'm not sure if you get jail time for that but im sure next time you're in court the judge will be pretty harsh |

it's 20% of the fine.. of Over $20..
So if your ticket was $90 they'd charge you $20.. and $110 They'd Charge you 20%..
so.. it's 20% unless 20% is not equal to $20.. then it's minimum $20.. |

"Speeding ticket, way over limit, failure to show up in court, my buddies is wondering what’s going to happen, he'll pay max fine will he not?"
IF YOUR FREIND WAS IN THE CITY AND COULD HAVE MADE TIME HE SHOULD HAVE WENT, the judges are not your friend, my judge said this to my brother this statement.
“I want to put your brother through the system."
Umm well i had a similar experience; I had to appear but was on a vacation, I went in before the ticket was processed downtown tried to tell them or speak to the crown, since the matter was not assigned they told me to come back, well I got my brother to come in for me 3 months later after the vacation I had a warrant out for my arrest, then i had to pay a lawyer to get the, CONVICTION overturned and deferred new trial date.
Of your friend is convicted in absence I recommend getting the conviction overturned and setting a new trial date (pay a lawyer to do this, when the warrant is overturned lawyer should call you and tell you also sending you a letter indicating as such)
1.prior to the trial date get him/her to speak to the crown please to have the charges reduced, example is a logical statement indicating no previous traffic violations, secondary a plausible explanation of why your friend was speeding,
1 prime: Was the road heavily populated when he was speeding,
What time of day was it, what were the road conditions?
Is he very sorry and he will not re offend,
Has your friend had any previous strife with the law, is your friend willing to go through a defensive driving course |

he got a show up in ticket for your fine. summons to court
If it was a mandatory court appearance then yes there will be a warrant out for his arrest. It will be one of two types:
- a Form 7 warrant which means that he will have to go to court and answer for not showing up and of course answer for the original speeding ticket
or
- a Form 21 warrant which means he was convicted in absence of the speeding and some sort of fine was imposed and the warrant is now a "pay or stay"....pay the fine right then and there when the cop pulls you over or go to jail and served the time in default
It is likely just a Form 7 warrant, but the bigger worry is actually the original ticket....the mandatory court kicks in at 50 km/h OVER, and if it's just that the fine will likely be around $1000. Anything more than that and especially if there was other traffic, poor road conditions, etc....your friend could be looking at a fine around $1500 and a 30 day suspension or so. Either way, not a good move not showing up in the first place :( |
