Anyone here know the markup in a 2006 Mazda 3 sedan or a sport?
I was looking at a GT GFX, auto, without luxury package (add $1095 with Luxury Package)
MSRP(incl. Freight & PDI) on website: $25,235 + taxes
or the
GT Sport auto, sunroof, A/C, without luxury package (add $1095)
MSRP (incl. Freight & PDI) on website: $25,990 +taxes
Let me know what you have purchased or heard the markups have been. I'm looking closer to the spring/summer.
Thanks |

What do you mean by mark ups? I dont really understand.
No one pays more then MSRP right?
Normaly MSRP+tax+fees then decide how much off that you want, make a offer thats a few hundred more then your willing to pay. |

| i dont understand either. dealerships have a mandatory mark up on new and used cars so there is absolutely no way you will ever get one at cost if thats what your getting at :dunno: |

All dealerships though state the price youll find on the manufacturers web site now though, then they add on tax and some tire tax and (document fee depending on how shady a dealership it is) fright PDI.
Some times you can get a car near cost, I got my TSX for 36k even with spoiler and a power polishing, normaly a little over 41k. |

| What I want to know is how much room there is to move on the MSRP price for a Mazda 3. |

Markup over dealer invoice to MSRP on most import compacts is about ~8%. You might be able to get ~ 5% off MSRP if you're lucky. Depends on the car and the brand.
You could try a Carcostcanada quote and see what you get. |

My sister was really looking at a Mazda 3 Sport this summer, and the dealerships were not willing to deal much on them AT ALL. We're talking a couple hundred off MSRP. They are still in pretty high demand so they don't have to bend over backwards to get rid of them.... and they didn't care whether it was a cash deal or financing as far as total cost which is pretty wierd.
She ended up getting an 05 SRT-4 for less than a 05 Mazda 3 Sport, when she wanted the Mazda in the first place because she thought it would be cheaper. |

| there is such a slim profit (usually) on new cars, that dealers cant take 1000's off mrsp and stay in business. a few hundred is pretty standard. |

I talked to a friend who's the financing manager at a dealership and they said there really isn't much movement on new cars. the markup on used cars is huge -you'd actually be surprised. However, this is not the case with new cars. migth have a grand to squabble over for a car in the mid $20K's. |

| My buddy sells Mazda and he says there is not allot of room but his Mazda will beat any other deal you can make at any other Mazda dealer. His name is Gerry and you can find him in the "Park". |

You should be able to get 1500 off, just go in and dont dink around, be stright out honest about what you want and if they cant get it for you at that price you cant afford it and wont buy it.
Do it all in one day, if the guy sees he can sell the car in under 1 hour of his time, then hes probly wont complain about maybe only maken 200 for his own pocket. |

I just quit my job at Weber Mazda. The Mazda 3 is best selling car - dealers will not move on them cause of the fact that the availability is very low. We were allocated 3 GT models per month and they were usually sold within a day or two. The profit in a Mazda 3 GT fully loaded is about $1500. You can get $500 off for grad rebate and if you can get another 300-400 off from the dealer then you got a very good deal. Hope that helps.
Oh yeah - and the commision on it is about 130-150 bux so the sales person probably doesn't give a fuck about your hussling ass lol |

I almost bought a loaded Mazda 3 in the summer, and Weber Mazda had no problem offering me $1000 off early on in negotiations. $1000 off msrp and no dealer doc fees is what we conditionally agreed to and then I decided I wanted something a bit higher end so I didn't buy it.
Very nice car though, good choice and good luck with the purchase.
And remember, for any car, if you aren't leasing or using dealer financing, documentation fees are complete shit. Always refuse to pay it.
I mean, how many other companies do you know that charge you 1-300 bucks to write up a one page invoice. :bs: |

| My buddy just saved $7,000 on a Mazda RX 8. I guess it's how much you want to pay vs how much they want to sell it. |

its just a cash cow, if they refuse to remove them get up and walk out... that changes they're mind in a hurry!
on the other hand some finance companys do charge fee's depending on the amount financed. |
