HEy I'm just curious how much a N/A * none turbo charged * MR2 runs for??
How much for a 3.0 - 3.5 grade MR2 turbo G * the one that isn't turbo charged *
And how much for one that is manual
and how much cheaper is one that is automatic. |
|
|
| Fergizzo |
I could be wrong but i dont think the price difference is enough to consider buying the NA over the turbo.
oh and wouldnt a standard be cheaper? |
|
|
| StraightSix |
| Non-turbo '2s are about $1000 less than turbos. Auction sourced cars through IC would run from $5000 to $6000 on average, most of them to the lower end of that scale. Autos are a little cheaper than manuals but not enough to worry about. In other words, you'd have to want n/a over turbo, or have some other considerations such as, reliability, running costs, ease of working on, etc., to make it worth buying a non-turbo, since the price difference is not very great. |

Just wondering cause of the cost of gas??
I'm curious what kind of gas mileage an N/A MR2 gets over a turbo mr2.
Also I know a fairlady Z Twin turbo gets like 18 miles to the gallon on the highway.. * not even sure about the city *
how much does a N/A fairlady get for gas?
I wanted a Z but gas is going to be a mad issue, aspecially if I decide to move to strathmore and work in downtown calgary or even up in the N.W end of calgary lol. |

| You drive a Pathfinder and you're worried about gas? |
|

Lol, well maybe after driving a pathfinder he realizes hed like to not spend 100 bux to fill up:D
Speaking of gas i think ive had my tank above half like 3 times in the last 2 years:thumbup: |

If you are at all concerned about getting good gas mileage you will have to reconsider all your dreams about sports cars. You have been all over the map about your cars since you started here as the skyline guru, but here is my suggestion:
Honda Civic\CRX. You can get a JDM if you want, light weight car with 160HP, it will keep up with a lot of fatter, more powerful cars and still get you back and forth for a lot less gas. Plus major aftermarket support with no parts shortages. Just my 2 cents. |
|
|
| StraightSix |
| CRX would be good choice for sure. An MR2 G would get nearly as good mileage though. |
|
|
| mx73someday |
| I bought a CR-X for a daily driver for this reason. They only weigh 2000 lbs, they have parts support here and they are decently fast. |

I know I drive a pathfinder.. one of the reasons I realize how bad gas mileage is.
I don't nessesarilly wanto go as crazy as a civici..
but I wanto meet somewhere in between and I assumed a MR2 would get decent gas mileage?
When were delso's ? 4th gen preludes and civic Si's become legal?
91 of some month I asume?
I saw once on here there was a page where you could see all the vehicles that were becomming legal over the next few months until next year, all the toyota's, all the honnda,s all the acuras
where did you guys find that, and could you send it to me again? |
|
|
| gaijin |
a Civici? sounds italian... LOL
anyway, on the IC homepage, you'll see a link to the cars that become legal this year. |

Get a Cappucino.
Leave it stock except exhaust/suspension and you will have the most nimble little bastard car around. |

I read on this forum that MR2 GT's have 225 hp.
But don't jdm mr2's have 240 hp Turbo charged. or is that just the american version?? |
|
|
| fromage |
| The turbocharged MR2s do have between 215hp and 225hp stock. |
|
|
| Fergizzo |
Ive also read in many places that they have 240hp stock.
Perhaps this is for more recent ones though like a 97? |
|
|
| StraightSix |
Yes, the later versions had more power.
guru, just buy a Prelude already. Legal September. Good looks, Honda quality, 200hp VTEC, decent mileage. And very cheap to buy too. |
|
|
| pizza_pizza |
How cheap is very cheap??
and I'm not waiting until september, I am moving out next month I need a vehicle.
I think i'm actually going way back to when I wanted a skyline GTS-T and just get that vehicle.
There nice, fun cars, semi good on gas and they'll do for now.
I can allways save up and get a GTR or an mr2 turbo or something down the road.
so I have a few questions.
When I wanto purchase a vehicle, Does IC have a phone number I can phone them directly on?? maybe if I see a vehicle at the U.S auction that I want to buy I can call them and tell them that day I want it so it ensures I get it.
and how do I go about paying them??
bank transfer??
paypall?
is there employees in calgary I can hand my cash to them directly? |

2nd gen had 225 (91-95)
3rd gen had 245 in the 96+ MR2s

JDM MR2 Turbo came in 2 version. Gen2 and Gen3.
Gen 3 started in 1993 and had 245 hp. The Gen 2 which is avalable for import has 225 hp and 224lbs torq. The difference between Gen2 and Gen3 consist in the turbo (ct26 vs ct20b) and the head of the 3sgte is better in the third gen. |

Not sure I'd give my # to someone like you to get called like 10 times/day to get ask how much boost can a stock fairlady push, was is the average MPG on a GTR of 600 WHP, what time a gts-t can run on the ¼ if you push 15 psi of boost or better, how many 15 years old chicks you can get with a JEE DEE AIM car! |

Hey pizza pizza, in all seriousness, why are you picking a gts-t? They are as expensive as a mr2 gt, some slightly more. A gts-t has nothing really special when compared to a mr2, except the name "skyline" (if you are after a name, then.... :dunno: )
IF you are hell bent on "jdm" pick up the mr2, best bang for the buck. |

my opinion exactly, although it also helps that i just love the looks of the MR2.
I would rather not buy a JDM however i cant find one around here for under like 10 grand for decent condition, and more kms usually as well.
http://www.canadatrader.com/result/...p;type=province
like common 14,500 for that first one, gimme a break. |
|
|
| pizza_pizza |
its over 7 thousansd for an MR2.
its like 5500 for a skyline GTS-T
In a few months money won't be an issue. But next month I'll only have 3 grand to put down a deposit, and 3 grand won't be enough to win a 7 + thousand dollar MR2 at auction.
I just wanto buy the f** car ASAP so its up hear soon, cause it will still take a few months to get up here.
I need a vehicle now, cause I need a place now, and I need to pay bills now.
so thats all I need for now. I'll fix it up when it gets here
and I'll get a ** MR2 or a GTR Net fall when I have more money ** |

| If you need a vehicle so badly NOW, why don't you give up the jdm dream and just buy something locally?:dunno: If you still need to live the dream sell the local car later on and buy your jdm dreeeaaam. |

| if you're so desperate for a vehicle. sell that gas-guzzler you have and buy something they have in stock. Get a loan. If you sell the Pathfinder, plus the $3K you say you'll have, then you can get something nice. |

hey pizza, you do realize that a skyline that is bought for $5000 would have originally cost less than a $1000 bucks at the auction. Any decent skyline costs a minimum of high $6xxx to a low $7xxx.
You may end up with a car thats not driveable. If you need a car so bad..why dont you just look at the local markets? Jeez there are a TON of decent, reliable and well looked after cars that you can pick up for 3 grand. Not some beat to hell, on-its-last-legs wannabe-skyline. Not to mention you have to wait for it to get shipped over.
My 2 cents |
