There's actually nothing wrong with modern Armor All. The formula has changed many times in the last couple decades. Its not the same as it was ~20 years ago when people gave it a bad rap.

But there are better products on the market. Meguiar's #40 and 303 Aerospace Protectant are two examples.

For your leather try Zaino's Leather In a Bottle, or Lexol.

That's just it... nothing! At least not any more.

There were myths and horror stories from the past of it causing cracked dashes, and too much silicone, etc.

Other than that, some people just don't like the LOOK of armor all on their dash because it can be overly glossy.

Yea maguiers spray bottle for leather care is good, just buy a dedicated lint free cloth for use when rubben into your seats.
Its tricky though, and seems like it dosent dry well with the cold.
Least from my experience.

myhorse
as mentioned lexol is pretty good.
Go to Tandy leather ( 178st ad 107 ave ) and you can get a complete selection of leather care products including saddle soap, lexol, etc etc for leather

They are really knowledgeable about care and tips for keeping it looking great. Even could show you how to re dye if necessary ( bolsters etc )

Hell if you even want to change you seats surface they could do it for you

A warning tip though, be careful using lanolin creams based care product on the vinyl part of the interior. Most "leather seats" have just the seat face covered in a very thin, heavily laquer based dyed leather. the rest is ...yep...vinyl.Getting this stuff on vinyl components leaves a sticky residue that just get gummy in warm weather.

also make sure you toothbrush the seams clean.

Qoo
myhorse, you are my man.
will to check out that place today.
thank you.

and Inzane, JonJonPoPong, thank you

They stuff you get with leather couches at the Brick is awsome stuff.

myhorse
I think it is lexol
Great stuff and easy to use
Get t he cleaner and conditioner

At the tandy place I mention you can literally buy a litre of it for the price of a 250ml bottle at other shops

Hi Qoo,

I agree with Myhorse. Lexol is a good leather conditioner. I have used it a few times.

Another great product I will reccomend is the Mothers Leather cleaner and Mothers Leather Protector. I use these products on the leather in my Avalon and I have no complaints.

Armorall does a good job as Inzane mentioned. However the main difference between the two what I have found it this. When you hit the brakes hard on seats protected with Armourall, you will find your self sliding underneath your seatbely towards the dash. With the Mothers and Lexol, this is not the case.

The Armourall will coat your clothes and leave it shiny over time. Similar to something that one would wear to the disco. I have found the Mothers products and lexol to not do this.

Hope this helps,

Mike Nikolai

I was actually talking about using ArmorAll as a protectant on the dash and console, etc., not on the seats... although it can be used for vinyl, leather and rubber (ie. tire dressing) just as easily as for plastic, etc. But I wouldn't use AA for leather when there are so many better leather-specific products out there.

I have also used Mother's leather care products in the past, and found they work ok. But I found Lexol and Zaino to be better.

Hi Jay,

My mistake!

I thought you were referring to the seats. I agree, Armourall works well on the dash. I also use a mothers product. I do not recall the name of it, but it is specifically for plastics and dashboards.

I have heard that Zaino has alot of good products but I have never really ventured out to try them. I have always been pleased with the Mothers line up.
