GOOD... its about time they're making an effort to enforce this rule. I'm sick of getting rocks sprayed at me from yahoos that go without mudflaps.

crx_86dx
well thats good for u untill u get pulled over for tint or exhaust do u have mud flaps

frankly you deserve it if you're tossing shit up at other cars.

it's because of trucks tossing rocks that my mugen bumper is now fucked.

i dont think that is a fair comparison, tint/exhaust do not damage other peoples cars etc

ALL my vehicles have some kind of mud flap or mud guard on them (even the Z), and they always will. Both for protection of my own paint and out of respect for those behind me.

I don't currently have illegal tint, but even if I did I hardly see how my tint or exhaust could cause damage to your car, and what's that have to do with mudflaps anyway?

Do you mean your tires are 2 inches wider, and actually stick out the side from the fenders? That in itself is illegal too. (and they even make a point of mentioning that in most drivers' ed programs).

crx_86dx
no taller

icydude
well i think when manufacturures build cars with mud flaps as a included feature they should enforce it.

some cars you still pay extra for mud flaps;)

crx_86dx
truck never came with mud flaps even when stock but since no one is helping me on this on good bye to all

i had a rock thrown through my windshield (ya strait through) and i could have been killed

god damn trucks should have mudflaps who really cares for the 15 dollars your'e not pissing people off or endangering them.....
i didn't have them on my neon stock but i put the factory ones that were available as an option on just so i don't spray snow on people.

Mudguards.

64 The body of a motor vehicle or trailer or a fender, mudguard or similar structure must cover the width of the tire and extend to the mid‑point of the axle when viewed from behind the vehicle.

It has nothing to do with height. According to the Vehicle and Equipment Regs, all vehicles driven on a public roadway are required to have mud flaps...period.

now that's i'm not sure about. my civic never had rear mudflaps because the bumper/rear fender is low enough, same with miatas.

bigmack000
my jeep didn't ahve mud flasp. if i changed lanes withthe snow mount int he middle you woudl seea 12-14 foot rooster tail of snow shoot in the air from my tires . NEVER got a ticekt even whe there was a cop behind me .

i dont care much of big truck just semi's with out a traier and dont have over the top fender flaps / they can shoot alot of stuff.

icydude
semi's that are bob tailing are required by law to put the mud flaps on.

when they have a trailer hitched they dont have to.

But most of the rocks cars/semi's throw dont go straight back.
they generaly come from the cars in adjacent lanes from you.

dc2696
My truck is big and has alot of tire in the rear, I have a 500$ set of mudflaps..you know why? because I can't stand when ppl shoot rocks at me in my miata (not to mention my truck). If you drive a truck without mud flaps you should get slapped, its just ignorant. Put on some mud flaps please. Cras its kinda of defferent b/c they don't shoot up as many rocks as trucks usually do.

SilverNeonRacer
As it was stated.. it depends on fender hieght in relation to the wheel...

If the body of the vehicle hangs down to the center of the wheel a mud flap is not required, if the body sits higher than the center of the wheel, you need mud flaps.

I don't think my dad's truck has mud flaps, but then I'm pretty sure he meets the above criterial. My fifth doesn't have any.... My neon, has some quasy flaps up front, but nothing on the rear.

I was on the highway and a semi kicked up a rock, from directly in front of me.... smashed my windshield... well didn't smash it.. but I have a rock chip with big round stress cracks.... he had mud flaps, but no top fenders.

i saw the one that hit me it came from the space between the daulies of a truck right infront of me... i don't think i've ever been hit by a rock from a vechicle beside me before....:dunno:

crx_86dx
all i wanted to no was the law on them the rest of this shit i dont give two shits for it

P.S i have some on my truck now

BErettin
from my experiance it's illegal to not have mud guards on any vehicle. besides, it protects your body so why wouldn't you?

My car, when I don't have my air shocked jacked up it's legal for me to be without mudflaps, and even with my airshocks at 180psi, it would be iffy.

The echo, doesn't need them, if you have kit with a low rear bumper, or a lowered vehicle you most likely don't need them either. In the eyes of the law.

I got a rock through my passenger window when it was open flew into backseat no damage but it scared the shit out of me. When we had our RX 8 whe got hit on front window and it spyder webbed and we had to replace window. I have a good set of mud flaps on my truck because I know what it is like to get hit with a rock.

I've gotten rock chips from cars with mud flaps and semi's without fenders.... Bastards.. all of them.

I'm about at the point where if my new chips(withing the last 3 days) spider I'll need a new windshield, if I can get one for my car.

I also have a hunk of glass missing from one fog light and 2 cracked headlamps from rocks. once again, Bastards.

mr2kid88
tossed smokes are annoying too..a friend of myne had a burn mark on her hood because of that.

joshb
you should have mudflaps if needed, i know my dads trucks all have them but it doesn't eliminate ALL rocks and crap from comin up, there's still that big space below them that shit flies out of too, it just helps with crap everywhere

btw...i even have flaps on my mustang, cause it spins tires really easy and i know what its like to get rocks thrown at you

bluciv93
its about fu**ing time they started enforcing mud flaps. i just painted my car last summer and my whole front bumper is full of rock chips from ignorant trucks.
