Alberta Reg's:

Horn, bell

60 A motor vehicle, power bicycle and bicycle must have a horn or bell.

Thats it.. it doesn't specify how loud it can or cannot be.

Looking at Federal Regs.....

quote:

8 Every vehicle required by the Act to be equipped with a horn shall have

(a) the horn securely attached to the vehicle; and

(b) a properly functioning horn actuating device.

Thats all i could find now.. part of the fed's site is down.. the www.tc.gc.ca

how about noise regulations??? or stunting?? just cuz the horns section doesn't say anything doesn't mean you won't get a ticket for it.

SilverNeonRacer
ya probably could give you a noise ticket.. if your being an ass like the video on the net....

I've run an air horn before with out any probs, but it was a standard air horn, not a train horn.

ctrain123
maybe its ok only if its not louder than then like how much u can legally play ur music beacause i know u can get a tickets 4 that

Well most horns are mid 90s... I would think.. Police sirens and such are about 115-120db.

Stereo's there's no limit, but it's a Officer discretion thing.

you have quiet times though in residential areas though as well as places like whyte ave where the noise violations are enforced.

I don't think it's actually written as "illegal" to have a train horn in your vehicle....

but I'd sure hate to be the bitch that cuts you off!!!

ctrain123
so many bad drivers in edmonton i will be using it a lot if i can get away with it!

Malaria
semi's do have 2 horns, they have the pull string air horn and they have the "normal" steering wheel electric horn, my dad says their supposed to use the"normal" horn in the city as to not disturb the residents, on the highway they can use both if they wish :P, im not sure if this is a law or just common courtesy.

crx_86dx
