hmm my z has been running rich since last year...and i have a safc which i m gonna reinstall and was wondering by tuning(not me) will it make the car not run so rich? also wha tkind of gains can i get on a safc on the n/a z? has anyone experienced using this on a na z? as for o2 sensors could it be that going out and if it is going out is whats the dif between wid band o2 sensor or w.e i been reading on it but donno the diff =\ and is it needed for the safc or neh? ....and if i dont make sense correct me lol i need some sleep

I'd change out the O2 sensors first. Order from Concept Z Performance If you can disable the SAFC and run stock settings with the new O2 sensors and dyno tune with wideband O2 at Apex Modified, you'll have a pretty accurate picture of your fuel mix settings. I wouldn't worry about tweaking the SAFC until you've done the above steps.

First thing is you need to quantify HOW rich you are, and find the problem. The 02 sensors, MAF sensor, vacuum lines and the ECU itself are all possible culprits.
An AFC can help with *fine* adjustments to your A/F but it will not compensate for running grossly rich. Fix the problem first, then *tweak* after.
As far as gains from an AFC I've personally found 5-15 hp across the rev range on my TT, for a given boost level (on stock turbos, stock fuel system, stock internals). I'm not sure what you can expect on an NA, but its doubtful that it'd be as much. You should contact NA owners on twinturbo.net that are using AFC's to see what their experience is. (I don't believe we have any NA owners among us here that are using one).
Wideband O2 sensors are mainly used for WOT (wide open throttle) TUNING, and would not be a worthwhile expense for an NA owner to buy their own. They'd even be a questionable purchase for some TT owners, if they don't actively engage in their own "tuning" and/or don't know how to interpret the data.
(You will have a wideband O2 sensor available at a dyno session btw, as VorpalZ already mentioned).
The oem narrowband sensors are perfectly adequate for the function they serve which is closed-loop operation, so just replace in-kind if yours are bad. |

Track as in drag strip?
I can't think of any off the top of my head, at least not in recent years.
But if you're wondering what you'd likely run here I'd guess ~ mid-15s offhand. |
