I was out looking at the new import car magazines the other day and stumbled across "Modified Mag" I was flipping through it and I saw this article on this 703hp Supra that looked strangley familiar. If any of you have been to the past couple of import shoot outs at bud park, you would have to remember this stupidly fast black supra. Anyways just thought I'd mention that this Albertan car made it into a pretty good U.S. magazine. An interesting read.

Ya I'm so impressed , ecspecially after seeing the comment 20 PSI , 703 WHP on a stock engine or something like that.
I was talking to my AEM EMS Supra buds down south who have full 40,000 USD race engines and years of tech behind them.They said on stock compression , the best bolt ons and NOS free you would need at least 26-28 PSI to get that much WHP.
Mike should be proud because he has managed to do what no other ever has.
Once he turns it up to 28-30 PSI he should have 1000+ WHP if you go with 20@703 WHP.
I bet he's glad he had 10-15 PSI boost left over to play with after that dyno run to bump it up to 1000WHP.
They can't wait for him to join the EMS board so they can all chat about his break through.

I bought the mag yesterday. It has a lot of misprints, including the 703rwhp at 20psi. It made 703 at close to 2 bar.
The mag even says the car has a roll bar or roll cage, but it doesn't (see pics).
No biggie. |

THat's soooo true... the dyno sheet that was displayed w/ the car in WoW said it was under 700hp at the wheels... he didn't have his cage... and doesn't jb's have him on video running an 11.18 versus the slower time they gave? It also said he uses slicks and them skinny front tires. I've only seen him swap out the rear tires for drag (radials?) tires...They sure did a good job at building that car up, and so it should as he still holds #1... for now.
They also said he's hoping to break into the 10's or maybe even 9's this year... that'll be impressive if he does, again they're saying that he's going to be trying to get 1000hp and still use stock internals (I've heard it can be done...).
I don't know, maybe we'll be surprised come spring... a caged 10second racer with full interior from Alberta!

Modified started out of the blocks good, lot's of ACCURATE tech articles and a broad spectrum of manufacturer's covered be the feature car's sections.
They have since fallen flat on their face, Turbo magazine seems to have taken notice of the intial popularity of Modified and adapted. |

Not that show cars are bad or anything but there should be a performance and only performance orentated mag out there for us to! Plus they are Canadain! We were talking about this car at the meeting at lunch, considering he is still running a stock bottom end, he has squeezed quite a bit out of that car, quite impressive.

The reason I just went with what I did is most of us here refer to our Boost guage as reference.

Why are you worrying about absolute pressure when everyone (well, most I thought) uses zero GAUGE pressure as their reference point, not zero absolute? Anything below 0 gauge is not really "boost", its actually vacuum.
And... if you want to get really technical, just so you don't screw something up on your car if you really are using absolute pressure in any calculations, local atmospheric pressure here in Edmonton is NOT 14.7 psia! Its ~ 13.5 psia (remember, our elevation here is ~ 2200 ft above sea level).
Just to give you my reference source (so you know I'm not talking out my #ss), the Edmonton Petro Canada refinery uses 13.5 psia for atmospheric pressure for their process design basis, and the Shell Scotford refinery uses 93.5 kpaa (13.56 psia) as their basis. |

There are some of us that just make more money than we know what to do with and spend it on the car, house, ourselves... whatever. You can't tell me though that ALL super modded cars or nice luxury "high roller" rides are legit though. "borrowed" parts and "clean" money, but does it matter how a person paid for their stuff (is car) if it doesn't directly affect you..... Let's not forget about the people who have really rich family and their parents buy them cars... I have a couple of friends who got Lexus Suv, Mercedes Convert., BMW 4dr all for "grad presents" and other friends whos parents bought them a new car because used wasn't good enough. Take it how you will, there are many ways of "financing" vehicles and mods!
Now, I don't have a lot of money, so when I see something I want I save until I can afford to buy it! I put goals in place and work for them, as I'm sure alot of us on here have done. |

Before my exhaust got done, my personal best @ Bud Park was 15.2 @ 88 MPH. Only mod was a K&N.
After I got my 3" turbo back exhaust my personal best was 14.4 @ 93 MPH.
Never underestimate the power gain of an exhaust system on a turbo car. :bigthumbup: |
