not sure about the UK importer site, but i figured the supra would have held its value fairly well in japan considering what it could be made into

Braden
I wouldn't suggest this due to the fact, that they could change the laws, and I anticipate that they will give some notice, but it sure won't be 2 years, then your stuck with a can that you can never import.

And you cannot import a car before its legal, even if you want to keep it in your garage, they cannot trust you, and I don't blame them.

6 months in advance is plently, its hard enough having money tied up in something that you don't get to use for so long.

I need more details to get you a quote:

-Twin Turbo/Non-turbo
-5 speed/auto
-Mileage range
-Accident/No-accident

phoenix
twin turbo
5 speed, preferablly 6 speed (thought they only came in 6 speed?)
kms dont matter, engine has rebuild planned out
preferablly no accident, but doesnt really matter as long as it wasnt major

as for mods:

no nos
body kit doesnt matter (veilside 03 fortune kit being ordered soon)
rims would be nice

newaccorddriver
how about just a mkiv supra, no matter on what it really has except for it has to be standard? i know the soarer TT 5 speeds are hard to find and pretty pricey if found, but what about the supras?

mx73someday
Here's some rough estimates:

Twin turbo, 5 speed, accident repaired: from $10,000
Twin turbo, 5 speed, grade 3.0+: from $15,000
Twin turbo, auto, grade 3.0+: from $9,000
Non-turbo, 5 speed, grade 3.0+: from $8,000

All quotes are fully imported to Vancouver.

phoenix
ok so a few questions then:

1: how hard is the 5 speed swap? and how costly is it?
2: can the non tt version handle a turbo setup well?
3: im looking to make a street car/track car(i do autox), so which would be my better option 1993 rx7 13B(fd3s) TT or 1993 supra?

newaccorddriver
interesting... id have to really look into getting a 93 turbo or non turbo when it becomes legal:drool:. are supras rare in japan as they are here?

import concern imports cars, they probably dont have much idea on much of the stuff your asking. the 5 speed swap is relatively easy(but its easier said then done), but its the hassle of finding all the parts and paying out of your pocket that is hard. there an obvious reason why the TT is alot heavier then the non-turbo one ill let you figure that one out. and the last question i dont really know or care about so anyone can take a stab at it.

if you want a supra, obviously your going to pay the price, theres no real way to avoid it as itll cost you the same or more in the end

phoenix
so i was looking at the auction site, and i have noidea how it works...

any chance i can get some more info on this?

auction number: TK11219

For starters it's not 15 years old for another 30 months. You're better off waiting at least 22 months before looking into a Supra. They could become even more affordable between now and then.

phoenix
well i was looking to judge what kind of mods would be done for roughly what price.

Try Google for a supra forum, with all do respect this is not the forum to post about modding a supra. really you do have 30 months as stated above. I wouldn't waste your efforts posting here just yet.

First of all all of the twin turbo models are 6 speed. Second of all you do know that the jdm mkiv supras made less power than the udm ones right? The jdm ones have smaller turbos and plus your sitting on the wrong side of the car. I love the mkiv just like the rest of you but I would never buy a car like that (including fd, 300zxtt) from japan. I would rather get a local one.

for estesthetic(spelling?) reasons id buy a JDM one, but my preference is still a CaDM one over a USDM one and a JDM one over a USDM one(i just dont like their gauge readings). the cost is why im getting a JDM one rather then a local one

Haha, I knew they were 6 speed, I'm used to quoting "5 speed" for manual transmissions.

actually twin turbo 5 speeds are rare in the US. they stopped making the 6 speed twin turbo in 96 for emissions purposes and reintroduced it in 97.

Yes they stopped making the 6 speed for a year and only had the automatic 5 speed available for the twin turbo model. That was the saddest year in automotive history.
