| what's the main purpose of it? and what kind of damage would it leave on the vehicle if i didnt replace it when it needs to be replaced? |

| adjusts your fuel delivery, adds/leans out your fuel. No damage if you put off changing it, but u'll get shitty gas mileage and ur check engine light will be on. |

yeah my check engine light is on. and i get about 400km/tank, which i think is pretty crappy.
$300 something to fix at dealership. is that decent? |

hmm I'm not sure what a new sensor for ur car would cost, but dealerships always overcharge always, keeping that in mind I would say it could b done cheaper. Do it urself it's not hard. |

What oxygen sensor are you talking about? The 1st or the secondary O2 Sensor? The secondary o2 sensor has nothing to do with your engine performance...its there to monitor the catalytic converter only.
If it is the 1st O2 sensor that is having problems...then you can have a few different issues with your car. Expect bad gas mileage, reduced engine performance (bad O2's usually over fuel your car, causing a rish mixture and rob power) So it would be a good idea to get it replaced asap.
As for the price to replace a O2 sensor, $300 seems extremely steep...in my civic the sensor cost me under $100 and I put it in myself. When they quoted you $300 did that include labour? Because its not a very hard thing to change...especially on a newer car.

| The front 02 sensor on an RSX like yours is a Wideband 02 sensor from the factory. $300 doesn't sound too bad at all because the sensor is probably 80% of that price. |

I know they go for about $100US for just the part, so $300 Cdn is a bit steep...
and is it your primary or secondary one? If its the secondary one it really doesn't matter |

| i have no clue if its the primary or secondary one. is there an easy way to find that out? |

| Read the code. It will tell tell you if its the secondary or the primary. |

Search On Google Or Yahoo,
And look for a Location.. If Honda stayed somewhat the same.. there should be some kinda clip thats not pluged into anything (Maybe a rubber peice) and that might be your code reader thinger. :dunno: Make sence? |
