open to offers
After I had made an offer on the 204B(model of the screen in the post), he called me and said he'd take it, and needed the money for car repairs. I said sure, asked him when he'd be home, and when he told me, I arranged to meet him and pick up the screen. When he didn't show, I called him and he arranged for his brother to give me the screen when I paid. I took the screen, verified it was a 20" Samsung LCD, and went home with it.
That evening, I had a closer look at it, and found that it was a model 204T instead of a 204B. The 204T has a far slower refresh rate (16ms compared to 5ms) and worse contrast (700:1 instead of 800:1). I PM'd him the next morning to tell him he had the wrong model and that the one he gave me was a cheaper, lower quality model than the one he had posted. I explained the differences to him and gave him the choice of either refunding my money and taking this screen back, or making up a fraction of the difference in the value. He essentially said it was my problem, and that as soon as I gave him the money, it was over and even insinuated that I might have somehow switched or damaged the screen.
In retrospect, I certainly should have made absolutely sure that the model he advertised was the one I got (other than the actual model number sequence, before they are powered on, they look identical).
That said, I think most of the people on this board would have, upon realizing they had advertised and made a deal to sell an item based on false information, would have either taken the item back and refunded, or offered to pay for some of the difference in what they were worth. Maybe I just have way too much faith in peoples honour and honesty in dealings:confused: .
Hopefully this will help someone in future dealings.... |

| I'm really sorry to hear about that sounds really shady even if it was an honest mistake the right person would have either offered to take the monitor back or refunded you a portion of the mone. I was looking at that post myself and contemplated on purchasing it. Sorry for the loss hope you don't base your dealings with this individual and think everyone is the same. |
