Since there has been alot of new members in the last while, and alot of older members still may not have had a chance to meet alot of others, how would it sound to have a BBQ where we could all bring our cars, show em, have a good lunch, and meet some fellow v8less people?
I was thinking it could be held at a city park like gateway..
who would be interested in having one of these before the first bud park event?
would be cool to have it as an official event markis? |

what about hawrelak park? that seems to be a REALLY nice place...i've never heard of gateway, but if that's where it is, i'll still try to make it. um...financing? how much will it cost each of us? and oh yeah, try to make it for after april if at all possible!
you can rent some pretty big BBQs from A & B rentals, i've rented with em before when i hosted a BBQ for 1000 people...uhm...i could help organize it, seeing that i've organized these events before, but there has to be some kind of funding for it obviously...i'll tell you right now, the BBQ will cost you about $75 since you will only need one, cuz i'm assuming the crowd won't be bigger than 200...and the meat, buns, and toppings, that'll run you about $275...i'll check my records and try to get an exact number on that. |

Ummm... some of them Integra folk are trying to get a meet together for the morning/lunchy/afternoony time on April 26th.
It's a saturday far far away...
I figure most post secondary places will be done exams... and the weather should be good, and most people can see if they can fit it in there schedule. Seeing it that there is a lot of lead time.
And maybe everyone can go together to powerama after this BBQ?
Or is it better to just go to Powerama?

as far as location, I would like a place to would the large amount of vehicles in a good sized parking lot. That way we can all show our cars. As far as funding for food grill, we could either rent/buy the stuff, OR we could have people volunteer grills and have almost a potluck BBQ, where we can all bring something.
Im gonna sit down and work this out within the next few days, and make a few calls to see where we can hold this... |

Update:
Looking at having it in Hawrelak Park. I am going to try and get it either the weekend before, or same weekend as, the May18th V8less Cup. That way we can have a nice lead in to the races.
Style of BBQ will most likely involve everyone bringing a food item with them (IE: Pop, Meat, Buns, Chips, Potatoe Salad.) I would set up a list to ask what to bring, so we do not have everyone bringing just buns, and ending up with no meat. :D As for a time, I think having roll in around 12:00 noon, and having the meet last till four or five, depending on how things turn out.
Toss out any ideas you have for it, including possible activities to be held. |

BAH! Hawrelak park will not give us permission to use the place for this event.
SO now I gotta find another place...I think the only park that MIGHT let us in is Lions in St. Albert. Other than that, I think I may just look for a big parking lot? |

| that is what i was saying before the kingmen hockey arena (on the southside 111st and 23 ave.) has a huge parking lot that is always empty and they have picnic benches and stuff too. i don think anyone there would mind. | if there's no major events going on at hawrelak, then it's often not that busy, except for regular commuters who go and park along the road, but the major parking lot by the entrance is often not being used, and if we bring our own BBQs we don't need any lots...and we'll just bring some old blankets, lay those out on the ground to sit on, and we're set...it'll be just like having a picnic :gay: !! |

As we stand:
We can all go to lions park for the event, but we cant book the park for personal use. But still, theres nothing holding us back from all going there.
So, it comes down to this. Do we want to go here, or should I pursue contacting a big parking area (like northlands agricom) for the event? |

I think St Albert works just fine.... there is lots of parking at the park and just across the road at the mall (*which is a dead mall anyhow = no traffic = lots of parking).... plus there is tons of places to bbq, with all those firepits and that...
If we can all just meet there, keep it simple, and it's really easy to find to even if you aren't from st albert! :) |
