Pride bushido 10 - Click HERE for Original Thread

detpulsar
Did anyone else see this event yet. All I have to say is WOW.

Best fight
Jens Pulver vs Kenji Arai
and
Silva vs Minowa

What is Gomi gonna do now he was like Pride's golden boy whats next dare I say Fedor losing??

NATO
I totally didn't see Gomi getting choked out. That was a shocker.

I think its time for Giant Silva to leave the sport. A record of 1-6?! Come on, leave so Pride can get some fighters with talent instead of a freak show.

Henderson's the Man.

Jens Pulver gives some good interviews too. He was on a sherdog.com radio broadcast a couple weeks back and he's pretty entertaining.

Glad to see there are some other people out there who know about MMA outside of the UFC.

Nate

ps I don't see Fedor losing anytime soon, and I'm really wondering who is going to be the one to eventually do it!

Fedor is a robot, but if Gomi can lose so can he. If anyone has a chance right now I would say Mark Hunt with a gun. Actually Hunt is the only one I see coming close he has an iron chin and
bricks for hands.

As for Silva he is a attraction just like Bob Sapp they got food bills to pay they are monsters.

skylinegtr
But I wonder if they'll even want Silva to fight again. He tapped out after the first knee to the head, which wasn't even that devastating of a strike. If it weren't for Minowa's showmanship, I think it would have been a very boring matchup.

NATO
Honestly, after watching that knee a couple times, I wouldnt be too surprised if it had actually cracked Giant's cheekbone. You could see him wince hard after getting it, and he checked his face a few times after taking it too. While not a visible injury, it would be one that would be very painful and would cause most people to submit.

I don't know if this is what actually happened, its just what I thought after watching the fight.

Speaking of MMA, anyone catch the Ultimate Fight Night on Spike last night? I didn't think too much of Jardine coming into the bout, but I thought he got robbed of a win. He had Bonner backing up and on his heels almost the entire fight! I hope he gets a chance to redeem himself.

The Ultimate Fighter Season 3 looks to be a good one too. Lots of tension between Ortiz and Shammy. Should make for good TV.

Nate

detpulsar
UFN 3 was such a boring event. Jardine so got robbed but it was good to see Stevenson lose and shut up some of those TUF fans. I also cant believe that they didnt show the Cummo/Von Flue fight but at least Cummo won.

TUF 3 looks to be a good one and that first fight Kaleb owned Mike Stein hardcore. I say Bisping all the way that Brit is a tuff bastard.

I was also looking around the net and Pride has announce 2 more fights in th OWGP. It is gonna be insane!
Mirko Cro cop vs. Ikuhisa Minowa
Aleks Emelianenko vs. Josh Barnett

NATO
Frick, Barnett/Emelianenko should be awesome. Two big sluggers. I don't see that one ending from a submission, that's for sure. Crocop/Minowas should be good too. I think Mirko might have his hands full with The Punk.

its really too bad that Pride doesn't get more exposure here in N.America. People are getting to know the sport through Spike and the UFC, but there's basically no mention of any other organizations out there. Even though it would be absolutely amazing to watch, I don't see Dana White allowing any crossover matches. Imagine if one of his hallowed TUF champs, or a belt holder lost to someone from Pride, a relatively unknown organization over here; people might realize there's more than the UFC and he could lose some fans to a (debatedly) better organization.

I was really hoping to see Cummo fight too. He surprised the heck out of me last TUF, and I would think he's got a lot of fans out there that would have really liked to see him win. Stevenson always seemed a little overrated to me. They should have him and Sanchez battle it out.

Better organization...hardly...but some of the fighters are amazing. I hate the way that pride has their rules set up. A guy is practically knocked out, yet someone will still continually kick him in the face for another 15 seconds. I love watching some of the fighters, but don't care much for the ground rules. MMA is about respect..and I dont' see much respect in beating the snot out of someone when they are helpless.

I won't deny it tho...if fighters from pride come over to UFC (Fedor :D) they are gonna change the standard and make everyone step up a notch.

Open Weight Grand Prix could be one of the best shows ever. Honestly, I love the concept.

The Crocop vs. Minowa fight on paper seems a given, but I love how unpredictable Minowa is; the guy is plain nuts. This has the potential to be one of the matches of the year, or a complete cakewalk - one of the two! And I just can't wait to see who they put Fedor up against. How about Fedor vs. Silva? They wouldn't put two top seeds head to head off the bat, but it would be a great fight. I'm glad to see that Nishijima will be in there. I was really impressed with him vs. Mark Hunt.

I agree with having some UFC/Pride FC cross-promotion matches from purely a fan point of view. In particular? Silva vs. Chuck, and Fedor vs. Arlovski. But, Pride FC is already considered the top in the sport by most, and as such attracts most of the best fighters; I wonder, apart from money (and they already sell out each event ahead of time), what else might be in it for them? If their fighters lose, it just makes the promotion look bad.

For the most part the fighters in Pride would walk all over the UFC fighters with the exception of Rick Franklin and GSP.
example Rampage vs Chuck

Also what are your thoughts on
Tito vs Forrest
and
How fast will Arlovski take to beat the Tim

JdmCrx
tito vs forest should be a good one.

BlueTurboEGG
I am continually impressed with Hansen (needs to work on cardio) and ANYONE from the BTT camp, go BTT!!!! down with CBA! BOO!

Insomniac
Geez andy, if i could train anywhere, it'd be Chute Box.. u hurt my feelings...

btw. your pm is full

jarago
for tito vs forrest I'd give it to forrest just because he's nuts. tito used to be really tough and hopefully still is just I haven't seen him fight in a very long time so it should be a crazy fight.

Arlovski and silva I give it to arlovski in the 1st round UNLESS silva gets one of his lucky shots in.

haha arlovski is craaazy. :loco:

NATO
I say Arlovski over Sylvia by TKO in the 3rd. I just don't think Big Tim hits hard enough to knock out Andrei.

As for Tito and Forrest. That is a really tough one. i'm going to go with Tito on this one. I don't see this one ending in KO or TKO though. There's a lot of pressure on Ortiz in this fight though. I think that Forrest can give him a run for his money, and Tito has a lot of expectations to live up to.

Wat?... (pm box fixed) I think the Chute boxing guys have unreal stamina, but they seem to focus too much on the Muay Thai than BJJ.

The Brazillian top team guys are top wrestlers, each time these two camps meet, BTT can get the CBA fighters to the ground.

Paulo Filho threw Murilo Rua around like a piece of meat everytime Murilo took a swing at him. Arona proved that he can beat Wandy. I just find the BTT more well rounded than the CBA guys...

I say Arlovski by the second round by Submission, I say an arm-bar.

Tito vs. Forrest, hm. I think Tito has more skills, especially in the ground game over Forrest. I'd have to give this one to Tito, ground and pound the moment he decides to take Forrest tot he ground in the 3rd

x2

I would also go with BTT. I would love to train with CroCop though just to learn how to kick like a madman. Im all about the head kick.

BlueTurboEGG
Have you seen the "home video" of Mirko? it's floating around out there on the net somewhere about his life growing up, his career, his family and his training regimen.

He actually has his Jui-Jitsu trainer choke him until he taps. Something about training his resistance to a rear naked choke

His family is funny, really funny :)

Bah, Ninja was just unprepaired. He should have known what Paolo was going to do to him. The future is NINJA, he will decimate all once he heals up.

The only BTT guys I like are big and lil Nog. The other guys are boring.

Havent seen it but know I shall search the depth of Youtube and google video. I have seen a tone of his HL videos and it always gets me to see just how high that bastard can kick with force.

Insomniac
home video = ~700MB documentary?

You call it "unprepared" I call it "cockiness" which is a CBA trait. I mean, come on, giving the entire BTT the finger after a match?.

And talk about stretching yourself a bit thin competing in 3 different weight classes???. Maybe they deserve a good whupping.

Do you mean when Mauricio "Shogun" heals up?. The open weight class will be truly a good watch... I can't wait :)

I like the way Dan Henderson respects everyone. He's a top fighter, a true gentleman and knows enough to know when to stop because he truly doesn't want to hurt anyone.

There's a champion.

And yes, the the Mirko home video is a ~700Mb documentary... I had it somewhere one time...

What Happened in UFC 59. I am speachless. It definatly is the year of the upset. AA better go to pride now, and people better start believing that Forrest is good fighter. Tito/Forrest was by far the best fight of the night.

To bad everybody at Joxs were idiots and still dont understand the sport.
