| I've herd BC is doing this too. Apparently they want the 6000 already registered vehicals in BC to be inspected imidiatly. If alberta does the samething this is goin to not be good for alot of ppl in the import car communitie. |

Thats funny.. Federal rules say they're fine. Federal overrules provincial anyday.
All you would have to do is show the vehicle meets federal requirements. I've been through this the other way around, I was ticketed under provincial law, the cop realized i would win, so he threatened to re-issue under federal law, which is a larger ticket, and I woulda lost(cause Federal Law was different), so the crown gave me like 60% off hte fine and I got the offending items back, as long as I agreed not to use them in the manner I was ticketed for. |

You will need to make sure the lights are DOT approved and have DRLs running. Thants the only thing with the GTO, and anything that needs replacing. DRL + Lights ~ 600-800 bucks. If you need someone to get it done, PM me. GTO meet thickness levels so no worries there. |

Umm, no. The Provinces are responsible for road/highway regulation. Transport Canada defines the minimum safety requirements and import regulations. While the Feds allow you to import a 15 y.o. car the Provinces are responsible for vehicle inspections, and are fully in their rights to enforce Transport Canada regs regarding markings of glass, lights and things like DRLs. Where you can get an exemption is when you import a car that was built prior to the TC reg - for example, my '86 BMW (imported a few months ago) would not require DRLs as my, now deceased, Winnipeg-purchased '88 Dakota pickup didn't have them either. RHD headlights should definitely be changed out anyway.
Alberta issued the same bulletin some time ago. |
