That's BS. Cops can develop power trip attitudes and need to be reminded every once in a-while that they work for us. That they can't go around harassing people because they may be doing something or acting in a way that is personally bothering them. If a law is being broken then act but don't lash out because they are young "kids" is sports cars that are "up to no good".

There was no laws broken when they all go tpulled over. they were headed home after a meet.

When a group of police jump their patrol cars over curbs, swerve between the cars in your cruise nearly hitting them, without any lights on, and make you swerve and stop so you don't crash into them... you have to start questioning their tactics.

When they proceed to swear at you and tell you to 'get the fuck off your phone' while you are talking your lawyer all so they can give you a ticket for a vague exhaust law (expecially when they don't even know your stock exhaust size, which is WHAT THE LAW IS ABOUT) you really have to question the validity and integrity of their work.

there were no laws broken

and i have many members of the EPS behind me on this one, because that one cop should not of acted that way at all

and some lots of talking to EPS, IBC (insurnace bueau of canada), alberta Registrys, other insurance companys, my insurance company, many other people and my car should not of been impounded,

and i still would like to cruise to the north end to that parking lot because it's big for lots of cars, there are no other people/cars around(like there are at southcommon) and just a nice cruise thru down town, and i don't want this bullshit happening again

so now this is what were doing, and we would like everyones help on its, it might get your tickets away,

last time something of this sorts happened the cops had there lights and sirens on and just blocked off the road, and the cop i had that time was very very nice and polite to me answering my questions and saying i can take it to court, and when he didn't know something, he answer honestly and didn't make fun of me like this cop.

Some people just have a tendancy to be a heatscore. I've had the Talon for 3 years. Never been pulled, never been looked at funny. Attitude, maybe? The way you drive? I have no idea... maybe I'm just lucky.

funny thing is...even YOUUU all mighty goody goody you would have recieved tickets if you were on that same cruise.. not because you did something wrong but because you were just there..its not always how you drive, its how the cop feels at the time he sees you. some of them love stereotyping.

thats exactly it, just because people were there, they got pulled over, if someone had've been crusing around with us in a k-car all stock  then they would've been let go, or the cops wouldn't have even looked at them, they looked at me in the mustang and just asked if i had my licence and registration, then they let me go, but he told me when i was sittin there, "we've had calls of racing and there's a lot of vehcile violations here, the cars match the descriptions" when all of us were in the parking lot sittin there, horse sh*t

end of rant

92_WhItE_H23
yea, dont try to say nothing happened because we all know what happened..the fact of the matter is that it wasnt anyone who was ticketed fault. it was witnessed by everyone that it was the 3 ppl in the 350,300, and eclipse that were goofing off. they should be the ones paying out of thier asses for thier stupidity, not anyone else simply because they were there and happened to have "infractions" on thier car.. we all know the only reason they got those tickets is because they had no proof of them doing any wrong doing.

I'm no goodie goodie... ;)

But they couldn't have ticketed me for much. Exhaust and that's it. And I'd deserve it. I have no illegal tint, no illegal lights, nothing like that.

And I avoided the "cruise" for exactly that reason. I don't need the hassle from the Five Oh when I want to be one in a year or so.

HeavyEarly87T
I used to go to meets to see the cars and meet other gear heads. We have some nice cars in this town. I never went on the cruse cause I have seen the questionable choices that are made on the roadways by the kids.

Now the meets have become just as bad, burn-outs, stunting, drinking, fighting, and other bad habits. For most of you high school is over...maybe it is time to grow up a bit.

Did you know that there are other car clubs in town that restore true sports cars, not hopped up econ boxes, and go on cruses all the time. They rarely get hassled but the cops cause they are more discreet about the fun they have. (Edmonton Corvette Club excluded from this group due to killing old lady's)

I just think that it is easy for you to think you have a right to drive. You do not have a right to drive, you have permission to drive once you have passed a too stupid to drive test. If you are not too stupid, you get to drive.
The police are out there to enforce the too stupid rule. If you forget the speed limit, tint laws, noise laws, exhaust laws, drinking laws, they are there to remind you. If you are too stupid to get it the first time they will remind you again, if you still don't get it they will take away your license because YOU ARE TOO STUPID TO DRIVE in a safe manor. It is really simple, if you drive like an asshole, or have tint, or have loud/big exhaust, you get a ticket. Suck it up or change something. Fix the car or get a real job and change the law; Mc Mouthpiece.

Hummm....I guess my rant is done for now. Cranky old guy needs a nap.

Typical ricer talk. Guess what buddy, I can do all of the above without associating with heatscore highschooler meets where douchebags cause trouble. As someone above me mentioned, there are other meets to go to...it's ironic you mention this actually. For the past year or so, I've been the main organizer of Dori Kaze meets and cruises in Edmonton. Guess what? No tickets, no cops hassling us, and no idiots attracting attention.

Thats really great for you and Dori Kaze! Were all proud of you! But you really need to quit giving the people on here a hard time calling them ricers when it was only a select few that ruined that night for everyone that was there. your stereoyyping everyone that attends these meets. and when he says "show off your car" he doesnt mean by doing burnouts and racing he means taking it to a meet and letting people look at it. Dont puit yopur hate on for ricers onto everyone else that is here talking about what happened. there was alot of good guys there that got ticketed and dont race around like retards.

From all of your posts on here it almost seems like you dont support anyone that tunes their ride? if you do then show a little respect and dont call everyone ricers. These so called "ricers" seem to have a lot of definitions to them....im not sure exactly what your definition of a ricer is.
as far as i knew they like to tune their rides just like everyone else. The common theme seems to be that ricers are the guys that do all the stupid shit that gets everyone in trouble with the cops.

Anyways enough ranting

Its funny you mention the old muscle cars then talk about us getting exhaust tickets. people put the loudest exhausts on their old school cars and they dont get harrassed. exhaust tickets are crap. its no different on a sport compact or a muscle car.

How did this become about the meets?

You call everyone ricers, but I guess ignorance is bliss.

This was never about the meets, this is about profiling. The cop on Saturday night said it best, and this is word for word, from his mouth:

Cop: "You guys keep cruising in large groups, we're going to keep pulling you over, REGARDLESS of what you are doing."

Me: "So even if we are legitimate car clubs that participate in legal sanctioned events and don't race on the streets, we are going to get pulled over."

Cop: "Pretty much. Its because of the cars you drive."

So, don't be so oblivious and ignorant. I know that you make mostly retarded comments Jeff and have this holier than thou attitude, but the same thing could happen to you.

Read those comments and think about it. We were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Chromey said it best when he said 97th Street is busier than Bud Park on most Friday/Saturday nights.

Hopefully, now you understand, this extends much farther than the "ricer" meets. Cops are employing tactics import enthusiasts have been dealing with for many years in the States. The only way to fight back is to keep your car legal. Stock sized tip with cutouts, flat blacked mufflers, completely stock exhaust, remove tint on your windows. That way they don't have anything on you and their only option is to let you walk.

I agree with you 100% but if we do this then were not much of car enthusiasts. i cant recall too many people getting too excited over stock cars lol its really to bad that the rules here make it impossible to be different. if you race then yes thats illegal and punishment should be had but just doing upo your car shouldnt be a crime.

What does having illegal window tint or some ghey-ass ricer colored turn signal bulbs have to do with being an "enthusiast"?

What does adding an obnoxiously loud fart-can exhaust on a normally aspirated 4-cyl econobox have to do with being an "enthusiast"? How many of the people that fall under this target group by the cops (rightly or wrongly) have even done the research to find the quietest and most power-gaining exhaust/muffler for their application? (I know those are conflicting characteristics, but that's beside the point.. I'm talking about finding a reasonable compromise at least)
Heck some of these guys' sense of taste and judgement is questionable if they *think* their car even SOUNDS good, in some cases.

Back in the day it was the muscle cars that got harassed by the cops. of corse that was because they were out ripping around at all hours of the night in packs looking for a place to "play". Then the tickets came for too loud exhaust, no hood, stunting (burnouts), music too loud (Led Zeppelin), beer and questionable cigarettes.

The times change but stay the same. Now the muscle cars have been restored and are worth allot more to the owner working so they don't get bagged out nearly as much.

The owners are in bed at 10 cause they have to spend 10 hours a day working to raise spoiled snot nosed kids who are out ripping around at all hours of the night in packs looking for a place to "play". Then they end up having to pay for the kids tickets for too loud exhaust, neon, stunting (burnouts), music too loud (trance/rap/tech-no), beer and questionable cigarettes.

Yeah you got it hard and the world is picking on only you.

Just because they have a loud ass car that doesnt sound good does not mean they are not enthusiasts. its just wht seems to be going around right now. sure they didnt research but over time peoples cars will change and their ideas will as well. its not fair to cut them down and call them ricers just becaus ethey might be new to the scene. granted some people might be doing it to fit in or be with the crowd but for the most part i would think alot of them do have respect for their cars and other peoples.

But anyways yes get this thread back on topic :)

Hi Earl,

People can still rant just in another thread. This thread was set up by SHAWLEY to gather information. This thread was hijacked long time ago.

There is another thread set up for ranting about the incident in question.

I have quite enjoyed reading the responses in this thread. Perhaps another thread can be set up to discuss the merits of what constiutes the differences betwen a ricer and a car enthusiust, etc. No flames on people or I will shut it down.

I did not kill the thread yet....."looking for lock button"

You seem to forget that I drive a modded car as well, complete with a loud exhaust and lowering. But guess what? I've been driving like this for three years and I have never had any trouble from the cops except the odd speeding ticket. You're right, I am stereotyping a group, but hey, it means I stay ticket free while you guys get your cars impounded.

Oh yeah, my definition of ricer....idiot.

Sorry this is useless. But saturday pissed me off!

I was idling down this hill making my way to the ledge grounds to go for a bike ride and the cop runs out right after this talon who was driving over the limit with exhaust just like me. Pulls me over and gives me a talking to about how stupid I am for this and that.
I didn't get a ticket which is good, but it still pissed me off. I'm sure the other 20 people waiting to get the same lesson were irritated too.

We only, you know pay these people to yell at us about nothing. While we did nothing on the road durring the time a crack head spends in the door way of an apartment smoking meth actually causing a problem.
Fuck, people can kill some one on a crowded bus.... But a car that doesn't quite match the noise level of a motor cycle will harm the community.

I agree with HeavyEarly87T, I am asking for shit with my car...depsite the fact its worth nothing to talk about. But why the hell wouldn't they spend their time and our money on more important issues. Its so stupid.

And these 4 kids have been arrested and are awaiting trial. What do you want the cops to do about it, arrest them before it happens?

Oh buddy give me a break, you know what I am getting at!

Can you honestly say that an exhaust offence is something even worth complaining about when there are more important issues.

shawley
like i've said before

last time when people were pulled over on anthony henday

there were some stabbings in the city, 1 kid died at a party and 2 were in hospital, but 5 cops were pulling 10 people over for exhaust and tint tickets

i bought a new muffler today and am getting a new full 3 inch exhuast put on so i don't get anymore tickets, cus this car has like a 7inch cannon on it lol, if you know the law you can get out of the tickets but it just gets anoying after a while to keep fighting them

but still i need peoples info

Yea sure buddy, like thats what happens after a meet, followed by a "cruise".

I use to come to the meets to check out the cars, now when i come people came up and harass me just to race, no thanks.

Keep breakin the law and getting tickets, your only making a fool out of yourself:thumbup:

As far as I know, no one at this meet was racing (cept for the 300, 350z, and eclipse). Everyone was pulled over like 2 blocks away from the Canadian tire (hardly room to fuck around or race). Everyone could see the cops out on the road already.

If we want to not get attention from the cops and have illegally modfied cars, the answer is simple!!

Raise it 16" inches, with big mud tires.

Swap a V8. Run straight pipes.

No more heat!

Just because people are being killed doesn't mean that less severe laws can be broken.

good point. the only reason i complain about the law is the reason for which it was made. in my honest opinion it was to give police an excuse to target people in our genre of cars. its not a justifyable law. i can maybe agree with the noise violation but not the outlet size one. alot of ppl on here always just give in to laws like that, they have no balls to fight for thier rights and in my opinion you should. the outlet law is rediculous. its just a stereotypical way for the police to hold something against you when they have nothing else to go on.

EDIT* before anyone tells me that police dont make laws, i understand this.. but the people who do know the police can use this law to thier advantage to crack down on us =D

Wow, way to make assumptions. I was on that cruise. I work full time as an apprentice and pull over 200hours in a month sometimes. I work my ass off and yet you think my parents pay for all my stuff? I've payed for all 7 cars i've owned right out of my own pocket. So whilest i was on the cruise with everyone i too got an exhaust ticket. My car is by no means loud. Its actually pretty damn quiet for an rx7. Not everyone on the cruises are out there to stunt or be a complete moron like you suggest. Maybe if you came out to a few more meets and payed attention to other crowds there you would notice that alot of us are there cause we like to talk about cars and drive around together. It doesn't mean we are doing 180+ down whitemudm it just means we like to crusie together.

Your exhaust comment is by no means valid. Every day while im on the job or on my own time i see trucks, muscle cars and any other car with enlarged exhaust. And do they get pulled over? No. Cops are profiling us. I can't even keep count of how many Diesel trucks i've seen with enlarged exhaust and are louder then the average rice pipe and yet they dont get pulled over. Why? Because the cops think that anyone that drives a japanese sportscar must be young and up to no good.

The exhaust law in itself is completely retarded. My ticket says enlarged muffler outlet. Well lets think about this. The law states that you are not aloud to modify/enlarge the outlet of the factory muffler. Well guess what i haven't. The muffler has not been modified at all, its been replaced. Cops are abusing this law and they don't even know how to explain it. Look factory 350Z's, Kia Sportage's, subaru's whatever, they all have an enlarged muffler tip. Yes tip. The pipe coming out of the muffler is smaller then the actual tip. Should they not get a ticket too? I think so.

Gotta agree with you there.

crazy240sx
i dunno who thinks we were racing to get pulled over, cause we sat in that parking lot for a good 45 mins to an hour before we all took off to go home, when we pulled out of canadian tire, there was a cruiser right in the middle of our group, i was beside her the whole time, so nobody did anything illegal, i drove down there from uc by myself so i can't justify what happened in that portion but.... :dunno:
