I ordered a Panago pizza last night around 10PM, the delivery guy told me how messed up the Old Strathcona area is becoming and that an hour earlier a girl was raped in her apartment (Panago being right next to the crime scene).
I guess it was the fact that the information travelled directly from mouth to mouth and that it wasn't received thru a newspaper or news program but when this guy told me, it hit really hard.
It seriously made it feel like Edmonton is truly going down the shitter.
Of course rape has happened before but for some reason it seems so much more severe.......probably because it was of close proximity....
Fuck theives?
Well then triple fuck rapists  :banghead: |

The sad part is, there's nothing that can be done at a municipal or provincial level to treat this issue.
Let's face it, there's nothing stopping a guy from breaking into an apartment and raping a girl who's by herself. Generally speaking, an average size male wouldn't have a problem overpowering an average size female.
And will the guy get caught? Unless he's been caught before, probably not. How on earth would the police identify someone who's DNA/Fingerprints aren't on file, out of a city of 900,000 people? I'd love to see the statistics as to crimes reported vs suspects charged (Not convicted, because we all know how easy it seems to get off).
And what's going to happen to the guy IF he's caught? A couple years in jail, tops, and he's back into the free world to do whatever he was doing before, which was most likely illegal.
What needs to be done is something with the federal system. Changes need to be made to increase the punishment, as well as figure out a way (if there is one) to prevent this from happening (As in, preventing a person from thinking this behaviour is acceptable). With the "let's make everyone happy and not punish anyone" mentality of today's society, I don't hold out hope for this happening anytime soon. |

If that disgustes you, I'd like to hear you rant on the guy that waited in a bathroom in a downtown school and raped a girl in grade 2. Now that's fuckin sick.... |

its not uncommon for a city around a million people to start having problems, not enough money for a large, adequate police force, and lots of oppurtunity and people willing to take advantage. Its unfortunate really.
I know myself and many others that are always willing to help people in a bad situation, but how many people hide and/or ignore things when they see it? Unfortunetly i think there are a lot of people of people not willing to help others. |

That anti-rape condom is a great idea if it actually allowed the woman to get away. Chances are most of these rapists would lose it and beat the shit out of them, quite likely killing them.
Maybe they should tip the barbs with some sort of temporary nerve paralyzer. The thing hooks on to the guy he screams, pulls out and drops to the ground for long enough for the cops to show up, boot fuck him a little, and then haul him off to prison where he won't be so lucky to receive an anti-anal rape condom. |

Perhaps I misheard the news story on that one but I thought the girl managed to get away with only a minor groping. That's still awful of course, and there could've easily been intent to do more, but there's a difference between that and actual rape.
Did a student at the school actually get raped? |

Yeah like Inzane said, I read that she was molested, not raped.
Either way it is equally as fucked up.
Hell it could even be the same sick POS! |

THIS IS WHY WE NEED CAPITAL PUNISHMENT!!!
fucking bastards. if I ever caught someone raping a chick, I'd pull my axe out and cut off his hands and feet and leave him to die. |

someones been watching a bit too much hostel...
your right though, if we had capital punishment that was limited to certain situations, it would probably deter these would be rapists |

I hate to play devil's advocate, but capital punishment for rape is just plain silly.
There are many people who are wrongly convicted of rape because of one sides lies - how would you feel if the girl you took home from the bar claimed you raped her (Since she can't give consent when she's intoxicated)? Do you deserve to die? |

she was groped, not raped. she immediatly ran and told a teacher, but he escaped while she did. |

I think we need a justice system that actualy puts these fucks in jail before we start talking about capital punishment. |

shouldn't be a complete totality in terms of punishment, however, for the more severe ones where the proof is absolutely undeniable (violent rapes, etc.... the outright, clear-cut cases) capital punishment should be instilled.
you say capital punishment for rape is just plain silly, but if you think about it, the punishment bestowed from our judicial system on the would-be rapists (sorry, sexual offenders) is what's silly.
your argument is why most women do not report rapes. they'll think that people will say they're sluts and that they wanted it and that after it happened, they had the analogy of buyer's remorse.
a woman gets raped. a guy gets his rocks off. most women spend the rest of her life in fear. a large part of them are also socially ousted and typecasted as tainted. the repercussions of a rape for the victim are unmeasurable.
for the assailant, he gets 6 months in jail... if that. |
