Nice Long Cruise........ - Click HERE for Original Thread

WookeysRX7
Hey Guys/Girls, Myself and Andy (Djshortys) were talkin about doing a big V8less cruise on a weekend sometime this summer. It could be a day trip or a 2 day trip. We were thinking of cruisin down Hiway 16 and then turning south onto Hiway 93 which goes from Jasper to Banff. So there will be TWISTIES!!   The destination or route we take can be changed we just thought it would be a cool idea to do a big cruise..... what do you guys think?

nissanz32
I think that would be an awesome idea!We could end up going camping if the cruise turned into an overnight thing.

WookeysRX7
Camping sounds like an awesome idea... Anyone else wanna tell me what you think?@!

HKSpowers
Hey wookey nice avatar!

GROUND AND POUND!

WookeysRX7
Well since someone brought up camping theres a place by jasper where you can go cliff jumping too.... 45ft cliff! its sweet and then theres a place down in banff somewhere too i think......

REFLUX
i'm up for the cruise....but im no camper

WookeysRX7
so sleep in your car then...... you dont have a back seat and you are what? 5'8 1/2 tops?! hahaha just lay in the back, you'd fit! :thefinger:

REFLUX
hey Chadwick, it's 5'9.5"!!!
you're off by 1.0"!!!

WookeysRX7
meh..... like i haven't heard that alot! -_-

ChromeDragon
I think it'd be cool, sort of a Gumball 2000km Eh thing!

If we could get enough cars together it could be a shitload of fun. Sadly there really aren't that many twisties on that road though, it's pretty gradual turns, but I'm sure there are some roads coming off of it that could be fun. You can't beat the scenery though, that is one sweet piece of highway!

WookeysRX7
damn no twisities?! i haven't been down that road in ages! Meh... whats a good road with twisties?!

You want a lot of sweet corners, go down on David Thompson Highway   AWSOME driving at night!!!! :o :D :P B) :)

REFLUX
it seems like Alberta members on rx7club.com want to organize a meet as well

Meet up around Red Deer & cruise to sylvan lake........

that would work out for campers & such, if you guys REALLY wanted to get fancy, you could do the cruise to reddeer/sylvan lake, then head out to vancouver with the HIN ppl

JDC™
that be too crazy terry!!

:o

sylvan would be a nice camp tho

ChromeDragon
Isn't Sylvan like 10 min from Red Deer?

Anyhow, if you want some kick ass driving, you've gotta hit the Island man, there is no substitute. The drive from Victoria to Tofino is supposed to kick serious ass!

The best road in alberta is the old highway one out of banff... it goes to lake louise. this road has one lane parts with elevation changes and crazy turns...
oh ya david tompson road is great also...

turbomike

Ohhhhh.....ya......

BlueBlur
TurboMIke...
The old coach road (old hwy1) is in the reservation and it kicks ass.. I always see sporty cars screaming along that road. The last time I was there, a newer porche was having lots of fun on the road.

I've been on the road to Miete hot springs.. Last time I was on there, I road my streetbike up to the hot springs. Isn't that road kinda crappy?.. full of potholes and such?

A really good road is is saskatchewan.. the old hwy to waskesieu provincial park... good pavement 2 lane road.. awesome! both in a car and on a bike.
I have an interesting strike one up for the good guys police story on that road.

WookeysRX7
Miett would be cool but that road is so damn small and just think if we get behind some damn grandma driver....putt putt putt.......wow that was fun....not. Now, where is this David Thompson Road that you guys keep mentioning...? Chromey, yeah that drive from Victoria to Tofino is awesome!

that sounds like a good idea! i just hope my car is done in time!

Something that fairly close to the city, up by our lake lot in between Boyle and Caslan. Although it's not overly windy, there are some nice high speed corners, lots of elevation changes, brand spankering new pavement last year(they know how to make roads out there, not like Edmonton). Very fun road to drive at high speed!
