i understand that a few ideas were tossed around on wednesday in hopes of controlling the stupidity of some people at out meets..
i heard something about possibly getting a police car to be in the parking lot with us..
i have a couple questions about this..
first of all.. it seems the problems that were getting are on the street rather than in the parking lot.. the idiots will just wait until we leave the parking lot to do dumb shit.. having a police car there might control it a little bit.. but if we're still in big groups on the cruise.. we may run into the same problems..even if nothing wrong is being done..
secondly, if we have an officer in the parking lot with us.. will he not still be expected by the EPS to hand out tint and exhaust tickets? |

| what do you suggest then. the cop car is a suggestion that could work. what are the chances of a person burning donuts/burnouts when a cop is in the lot? |

| i think the big thing with an officer being there is detterance of heatbags even showing up in the first place. |

One would hope it would be zero, but you never know.
I'm sure we can come to an understanding with the EPS that exhaust/tint tickets would be in very poor taste in the parking lot and would do nothing to improve their reputation with certain members of the board.
I think it could be benificial/educational for an EPS officer to swing by. Everyone that has a question could ask him or her in a situation where they haven't pulled you over.
Like I said before, I think it's beyond 780tuners.com to control what happens on the cruise. It shoudn't be the site's or the mod's problem. At UC, we're representing the "scene", so to speak, to the city and to the Police. After that, to each their own, and if you want to go spin some 'nuts in the Canadian Tire parking lot, 780tuners.com shouldn't have to bear the brunt for that crap. |

Typically, if an event requests a cop, they pay for it. Inviting the cops to baby sit the group is lame.
-if you go to a meet and someone does dumb shit, tell them to f'off
-if you don't like the result, leave
-if you get tickets from the cops for legit reasons (assholes or not), don't come crying on the internet. |

You know, this all seems comparable to guys going to a "legalize marijuana" rally, where you're not supposed to smoke dope, some LOSERS light up some big blunts, and then the cops search everyone for grow. Then the regulars, get upset that they get caught for possession... ha ha

only we arent talking about prohibited narcotics..we are talking about cars, that were legal up until a few years ago when they thought street racing was becoming a growing issue so to crack down on our kind (for lack of better wording) they invented some pretty retarded regulations. |

Inviting the cops to the meet goes both ways.
You know what's lame? When somebody's car gets hit in the parking lot. Or gets a burnout full of gravel tossed at it.
Speaking for myself, the attitude at tonight's meet will seriously impact whether I'd risk taking my new car to a place where it can be damaged by a bunch or self-important, who-gives-a-shit-about-the-rules idiots who continue to show blatant disregard for other people's safety and property. |

I'm loose, it's my old login i used by accident.
You guy puzzle me. The cops invented new regulations? Like what? The same shit's been illegal for years. You guys always complain about cops wasting time giving tickets when they could be chasing burglars. Now you want them to occupy their time by babysitting a car meet. You've got to be out of your minds... |

| you find me the date the legislation for enlarged exhaust outlet came into effect. |

if there was a cop car sitting in the lot there
then the idiots, like the ppl int he yellow sunfire with a bodykit and chrome rims and neon, won't show up
all they did was ask people where the races were, and i kept telling them we don't race, and said the races are in a month when bud park opens
so with a cop car there idiots like that wouldn't show up |

since it's your argument, you find me the date
shawley, i have no problem with a cop being there, other than that it is a complete waste of resources and money |

i mean it would be nice to have the police tiburon out,
i've talked to the driver and hes pretty cool and into cars, so i think he would be good to come out
and then if ppl saw that there maybe they would relize it's not "the races" |

but my question still stands..
will they not be obligated by the Edmonton Police Service to hand out tickets?
i know for the most part we aren't in our cars..so they cant really do that even if they wanted to..
but its definetely possible to get nailed for it when you enter your vehicle |

No, I don't think it would be an issue. The bike cops were there last night and they didn't even mention anything like that. |
