Mitsubishi GTO - Click HERE for Original Thread

I am interested in purchasing a Mitsubishi GTO from importconcern but have heard parts are extremely hard to find and are really expensive to fix when it breaks down. So my question is has anyone had any experience with these cars or has purchased one from importconcern? If so, did it take much to get it pass safety? I just want to know how reliable these vehicles are. thanks everyone! :)

I would guess finding parts wouldn't be all that hard as it was sold here as a dodge stealth, and in the US as a mitsubishi 3000GT. however......the labour involved with working on a V6 twinturbo crammed under a little hood like that makes replacing anything kind of pricy. unless you have the time to do it yourself.

The nissan 300zx is the same way.

I can't see the parts being that hard to find, like said above, the North American counterparts have the same engine. The only parts to worry about would be right hand drive parts (ie. streering rack). It can be expensive to fix if you haven't done the research, it will cost you alot less if you can find the problem yourself and fix it yourself. Shops will be expensive, the engine is cramped. For reliablity, I would check 300GT and Stelth forums, they are your best bet for find out how reliable they are, as well and figuring out and fixing problems, if it breaks or is broken, chances are, it has happend to someone else. Saftey will vary on ever car, common things thats fail are tires, tie rod ends, sometimes wheels bearings, brake pads. It really depends how the car was treated more than anything, there always tends to be less problems with lower mileage vehicals.

Parts are not all that hard to find, if you go to the dealer where the prices are not going to be all that easy on the pocket book. There are some parts that you can get at crappy tire, napa ect but very little and don't be expecting to get the right part the first few times. Next pretty much everything is going to be a week or two waiting period.

these, cars are a headache and a half, i considered picking one up, heard only bad things from every owner i spoke to, think of the reliability of a dsm and the mantenance cost of a mercedes ( maybe not mercedes but you get the point)
