ADT NO!
But if you want a free system then go ahead with ADT. Your still goina pay about 25$ a month for monitoring but if you get false alarms it will end up costing you a fee. There are alot of companies out there that offer free install and components but like anything you get what you pay for.
I recomend AZ alarms. The owner (Art) is a one man band and has been the head of the alarm whats it of Canada before. He has installed many high end systems around Edmonton and local for banks and others. He is not cheap and takes forever but if you are lucky enough to get him to do yours you wont be disapointed. I mean lucky if he does yours meaning he isn't looking for work and is hard to get to do it, just because he is very busy. My house took about 6 months from start to finish but I've got motion, doors, windows, heat sensors, window screens, perimator, fire detection, fence, my garden shed and stuff I cant mention.
Never had any false alarms in the 5 years. |

I have no background information on the security industry in Edmonton, so I must ask: why avoid the two-way voice like the plague? It seems like a good idea to me |

agreed.
we still use adt without the monthly fee, but a month or so back we had a problem..(which was $120 or so, because we dont pay monthly)..somehow water dripped in the power box and hit the adt wire, causing beeping to occur..very fucking annoying at midnight.
so we call adt, only to get an attendant in TORONTO, and then next in calgary..they dont have one in edmonton..
we eventually got someone over to help, but it took a good 30 minutes, waiting on the phone etc. while this shit was happening..
some of the people we spoke to were like pizza 73 operators..
no other problems though. |

I'm not talking about the concept of two-way voice technology. I'm talking about the actual company called "Two-Way Voice". I have no experience with other companies like "Alarm Force" that utilize a two-way voice system...
I'm just saying avoid the company "Two-Way Voice". They are a small outfit, the President/owner is a creep and their customer service and tech support is really really bad.
The only thing good they ever did for me was let me out of my contract early. |

Mmm.. For my dad's building he has ADT.. At home we had VOXCOM (GREAT) and now we have alarm force. The 2 way vioce is gay. Its a live guy. Hes like "are you alright.. do you need assistance. No. Tell me the code. ****. Oh.. k. One sec. Call on another line.. Alarm force, hello? Oh, sorry.. forgot to disconnect"
haha. I mean. The burglar could like make you say the password. With voxcom it atleast was hidden lol. I dunno.
ADT is expensive, voxcom is middle guy.. Then alarm force. Alarm force is a box attatched to your phone hahaha. |

| A buddy of mine has the alarm focre unit. They got the free install one. all they got was one key pad a magnetic switch velcroed to the door and the loudest pos buzzer everytime somebody opens the door. You can't turn the sucker down so it scares the crap out of you everytime it goes off. All this stuff is wireless so you just stick it were ever and away you go. I guess they offer higher end systems but this is that free one you see on tv. I guess when you quit having them watch your house. they come in rip the equipment off the velcro and thats it. I would want something a little better then that. Flatboy seems to have it right. ha ha:thumbup: |

I have always ran Telsco at home at my businesses. +10 years.......
The hardware is definitely not cheap if you do it right.
..monitoring fees are pretty much the same as anyone else. |

Oh no! ... its 2006 and we live in Edmonton Alberta Canada, and we'd really be at risk if we were ADT customers. |

I JUST DONT LIKE PEOPLE FUCKING WITH MY SHIT. A guy works hard for his stuff for some punks come in and mess you house and sniff your wifes panties or something. I blew more money on car stereos over the years than my security system cost but I can leave for holidays knowing that all hell will brake loose. And ya a big hungry dog in the back yard also helps but pisses off the neighbours, oh well didn't move in to make friends. I'm a :asshole: |
