Q re: compression tests - Click HERE for Original Thread

Say I have a 4 cylinder car, I heard that if you get a compression test done, it's okay for the numbers to be within 10% of the norm (e.g. 160).

is that true?

asking for a friend. should he be concerned? I think his compression test came back 160 160 160 170.

edit: no mods done to the car at all.

thats fine. i think honda specs are 15% within the highest and lowest cylinder.
my lowest is 190 highest is 205 and honda says thats fine.
im pretty sure other manufacturers are the same.

with a compression test begin done, how many times do you have to crank it...like if i crank it 2x's i will get lets say 120, 3x's 160, and 4x's 220...so how can anyone tell what is good or not? or maybe i must be a handicap and dont know how to do a comp. test. thanks

crank until it stops moving :p

just remember to pull the fuel pump fuse, and hold throttle at WOT with all the plugs out.
