UFC rigged? - Click HERE for Original Thread

the_fornicator
UFC 59....so after the Ortiz/Griffin fight, I seriously think the fights are rigged now. what bullshit.

ortiz, the guy that's supposed to be a complete savage in the ring, the guy that's supposed to give no respect to anybody, and especially, the guy that gives no mercy looked like a complete wuss half way after the first round.

tito and forrest were talking near the end there as well and it didn't look like they were trash talking each other, but more like they were conversing about something.

and near the end, you saw tito look at forrest *right* in the eyes and give him a clear nod. 2 seconds later tito lets forrest hit him in the face.

like wtf?

and since when did a take down ever decide a fight? forrest had ring control and was the more aggressive one.

Insomniac
no

JDMBoi
no, grow up

the_fornicator
lol grow up, eh?

did either of you two see the fight?

Tech2
I've always suspected that the UFC has had some thrown fights. The first one i can think of was back in like ufc 3 or something, where this muy thai guy was up against some huge judo dude, and without throwing a punch or kick goes for a takedown. He was submitted seconds later.

I doubt it's an administration thing, but I'm sure there is corruption in the ring.

DoubleDown
I don't know about rigged, but I was disappointed with Ortiz and Arlovski's effort. Tito should have finished Griffin by the beginning of round 2, but instead of sticking to his "drag him over to the fence and drop elbows" game, he decided to box for two rounds. He still won, I guess... but that savage aggression was gone after the first round.

As for Arlovski, I dunno. Maybe he was pinned in a way that I can't understand, but he made NO effort to defend himself after Tim tagged him coming inside. He just laid there on his stomach waiting for the ref to end it.

Disappointing effort by both of them, IMHO, but I'm no expert.

It's like wrestling.... None of those moves really hurt.....

(in case you're wondering, this is 100% sarcasm....)

not saying the actual strikes are fake, but the outcomes seem pre-determined.

I dunno, that nod that ortiz gave forrest right before forrest clocked him left a really bad taste in my mouth.

it was *really* obvious. Could just be me making something out of nothing, but if you haven't seen it, watch the last round. seemed like complete BS to me.

Maybe you're Right... Maybe.. you're wrong..

Maybe it could have been some sort of a Mis-direction type of nod.. like a Sike out or something??

I'm pretty sure they wern't in the ring..

"Oh, hey.. How's the new Viper running?'
"Oh good, I just got some new rim's for it a few weeks ago! I'll take you for a spin after the fight!"

Like.. NO.. that doesn't happen..

Yes he did and I heard that Forrest had a messed up ankle.
Plus why all the hating it was a great fight.

Now Diaz/sherk on the other hand was strange. I dont think that sherk should have had that disicion so easily.

Sometimes I think it's rigged.

For example they always have so many 'come up' fights (ie, they build up a guy like 'Nate the rock Quarry' then he gets knocked out and we never hear from him again?)

x2^^^:dunno:

NATO
We haven't heard much from Nate Quarry lately because he was on a suspension for like a year because of the injuries he got during the Franklin fight.

I dont think the Ortiz/Griffin fight was 'predetermined' at all. Moving and bobbing your head is something you do in sports and especially in combat sports. I've watched the fight a couple times now and I don't feel at all that the decision was a bad one. Do I think it was close? Yes. Tito absolutely dominated the first round, Forrest came back in the second, and the third would have been Forrest's, but he got taken down and dominated for a little while in the third, which can sway a close decision. I don't think Forrest would have one it by much anyways; Tito just wasn't taking much punishment from Griffin.

As for Andrei; I guess his weekness was exposed again. His reputation of having a glass jaw got strengthened a bit when he dropped after that tap by Sylvia. I do feel that Herb Dean stopping the fight was a good choice though. Andrei took about 7 shots to the side of the head and did absolutely nothing to defend himself, so I feel the stoppage was justified. How many shots do you let a guy take, especially to the head, before you call it off. As much as I hate to say it, props to Tim Sylvia for regaining his composure after taking a monster hit from the Pit Bull.

Now for the long wait until UFC 60 with Matt Hughes and Royce Gracie. I'm really hoping that Royce can pull it off, but something tells me that Matt's game is too well rounded to allow himself to be caught. Keep in mind though, that he hasn't done all that well against Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu guys in the past and they seem to be his weekness.

That's going to be a great PPV. Pride almost always puts on a good show.
