Sorry if I put tooo much detail.

*Cliff's Notes* -

Well, I ordered 2 pairs of Hella ECE's from another shop, after a month I was told they arrived once, but where broken, so I was waiting for them to be sent back, then resent, still had a guestamate price. I canceled the order, the other shop appologized. So no bad feedback for them, it's all shipping and supplier issues.

So I hit everyshop I could think of on my way to the southside... JB's - no only had eurolites, Mopac.. none at all they sent me to some distributor onthe southside, a Hella Dealer, they where closed, and based on the front of the store, either moving in or out. Popped by Apex, he was technically closed, but said nope, didn't have and not sure where I could get them...

So it was now about 5:30pm or so on a Saturday, I popped into EZ, asked for a price, now obviously all his suppliers where closed, so he made damn sure he got a good description of what I wanted. I got a Call on Tuesday I believe, or was it Monday, he gave me a price...A little higher than I had hoped, but had nothing really to compare it to, we worked out a deal on 2 Hella's(for my HID's) and 2 eurolites.

He ordered them up. He did ask for a deposit, but since I do live 100miles north of Edmonton, and didn't have a credit card, PLUS I wasn't 100% happy with the tint job I got there last summer, he ordered them no deposit. The demand for these Hellas is non-exsistant so I could see him wanting the deposit.

He told me they should be in that Sat... so I pop in, they wheren't there, well they kinda where. One of his guys had picked them up from the suppliers, but didn't drop them off at the shop, or something. To tell ya the truth I was kinda expecting that, not due to EZ, but it was that kinda day I was having. My special ordered boots wheren't in either.

So he apologized profusely, asked for another chance(offered a price drop if he fell through), he said he would have them for Monday, well I only come in once a week(Saturdays). He called on Monday, and said they where on his desk.

So I pop in on Sat, they where in, now mind you not quite what I had hoped, I thought the Hella's would be diamond clear, but they wheren't. Now I will admit that is my fault, not his. I just knew I wanted ECE's and Hella is a really good brand, I never did any research. To my delight they did come with Hella H4 stock wattage bulbs, which are now in the Eurolights. One of the Eurolights is missing the rubber weather boot, but Kevin's gonna get me one.

So all in all, Kevin got me the lights in 2 weeks, had a set price to me in 1 or 2 regular business days, the boxes where a little iffy, but the lights look good, I still need to install them though, maybe tomorrow.

What price did you get?!???

If you had asked me, I would have told you Gregg's distributors for under $80 if I recall correctly, and as a huge Hella dealer they get their shit fast too.

Don't worry. You have THE BEST 6054 housing available. These are E1 rated, the highest e-code rating you can have for good cutoff and beam pattern. The "diamond clear" stuff is more properly referred to as "free form reflectors" and to date, no reputable manufacturer has made any good ones in 6054 size. It's unfortunate, because theoretically FFR can put more light on the road if it's designed properly. But all the FFR 6054s on the market now are no-namer-bullshit-beam-pattern dealies.

SilverNeonRacer
heh oops these are 4656 (4×6.5) or whatever.. and Hella does make a set.. dammit...Oh well....

I went to my local gregs they didn't have them.

I paid $300 for a pair of Hella ECE's and a pair Eurolites.
When my lights get eaten by rocks, I'll get the Hella Free forms.

Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!

rallylights.com sells the kit (and it comes with better bulbs than some cheapie Eurolite/APC stuff) for 90 USD...which comes out to like about $150 CAD after shipping and taxes...

In fact, I bet what EZ did was order your lights in from rallylights.com, then marked it up $150 on top of the ample markup that rallylights.com already charges. After being gouged so badly, I can't believe you're still giving them a shining endorsement!

(PS. Next time you need headlamps, let me know, and I'll "bring them in" for you for $200) ;)

SilverNeonRacer
The eurolights don't fit too well actually, they rattle in the retaining rings. The bulbs that came with the Hella's suck royally.

I put the Hella bulbs in the Eurolites.. and the stock sealed beams where brighter.... hmmm..

What you say $200, do you mean all 4 housings? heh
Thats what EZ quoted me at first per pair of Hellas.

:( Might be going in to Edmonton tomorrow, but with the car show, dunno if EZ will be open, might have to wait til next weekend.

Oh I see, you have a 4 headlamp system. Two for low beam and two for high beam right? Well you know, the Hella housing that replaces your low beams is a low and high beam conversion, so there's no need for upgrading the high beam lamps...it might require messing with the wiring a bit. Honestly I don't really know how your headlights are setup.

SilverNeonRacer
Basically, before I had H4 bubs across the board, but the center two, the low beam wasn't hooked up. Now it's the same but in the hi-beam only's I have the HID bulb and will be hooking up relays so if the HID's are on the incandecant turns off.

Oh, I see...so your two outer lamps are going to be low-beam only? Ooh this makes things easy...just go for the highest wattage H4 bulb you can find and snip off the wire for the high beam. No need to turn off the halogens when you use the highbeams...this way you get extra light on the road and it saves the trouble of wiring another moving part that could fail.

For the HID highbeam, you would be using the Hella H1 high beam housing?

SilverNeonRacer
Umm no..
outters are hi/lo, inners are hi/HID < with relays to shut off the inner Hi when the HID's are on. This way when the HID's are off, my head lights function as if 100% stock(well not including the H4 conversions)

Too many cops up here who'll try to impound my car for HIDs.

So you have 4 high beams and 2 halogen low beams and 2 HID low beams on top of being able to turn them all on or off in different ways? Dude that's just ridiculous...

SilverNeonRacer
I can have 9 different configs of lights.

Low
Low with fogs
Low with fogs and HIDs
Highs
Highs with Fogs
Highs with fogs and HIDs
Just fogs
Just HIDs
Fogs and HIDs

Yeah, I know... nuts.
