Slips slips slips. Doing the update from slips received today.

Let's go. Double-time. :p

11.14 slip and back-up! That's what I need...

Scan it. Shoot it. Whatever.

Nice runs!!! Congrats!

vr6T
I would think a video would be as good as a slip :dunno:

if you're coming back on friday, I'll give you my 11.02 slip because I'm pretty sure I won't get a good scan of it.

My gamble didn't pay off I actually ripped the rear dif out of my car. Oh well win some lose some I guess, I just new after a shitty launch yesterday, and letting off and getting on the brakes early on low boost and running a 10.6 that my goal was in reach I guess just not today.:dunno:I well give full detailed account once I get settled in.

I guess the bright side is it's an appendage and not the heart. Any chance of reconstruction before Calgary?

Ron,

Post the details of your 10.6 slip.

James,

Post the details of your best run as well as the run in the video.

Haven't got 'em yet. But I will do as soon as I get 'em.

Also, I might be able to make them more legible for you too. I'll see what we've got to work with once it arrives...

Thanks James.

vr6T
Ron, we had the same mph at the 1/8th AND 1/4 mile.....

I just need to leave the line harder

Actually I just went back and looked. I did 107mph on the pass I let off after the 1/8th.... and did 103mph the pass I had to let off before the 1/8th... :)

on a good front 1/8th. I had the same 107mph, and on my good back 1/8th I had the same 133mph... LOL

Z_Fan
James, just got them.

Can you post the numbers as per Ron's example.

This is a pretty big update once again. The year is winding down fairly quickly here, but it seems there are still several goals that people would like to see fulfilled before the racing season officially expires. Good luck and be safe.

The list should be called Alberta’s Quickest Import / Sport Compact Cars. Simply because the lists primary purpose is to show who runs the lowest ET. In many cases, that doesn’t accompany the highest MPH for the vehicle. We’d actually need two separate lists to track that. Ironically, for the last several years we’ve referred to the list as Alberta’s Fastest when in fact it is Alberta’s Quickest.

If it were to truly be both, it would be Alberta’s Quickest & Fastest. Two databases would need to be established. You see where I am going with this, or perhaps you do not. The idea of sub-lists showing highest MPH, for example, is not truly indicative of reality unless multiple submissions per vehicle were accepted. Same thing about sub-lists showing best 60 foots. My bests, for example, aren’t necessarily in my quickest ET. It goes on and on and on…bottom line, we can generate sub-lists from the quickest ET time slips, however, they will not necessarily represent everyone’s personal bests in the specific category, except for ET. Kind of makes the point of sub-lists trivial IMO.

Some amazing shit is happening this year, and people are smashing records all over the place. It’s absolutely nuts and tells you how fast the cars are really getting. The list, after this update, will be the quickest list ever and it’s very impressive. When I speak of records, I’m speaking in terms of AFAIK from the information I have available to me.

Ron @ Revolution laid down a 10.6. The video is online. This is the first 10 second pass, that I am aware of, made by an Alberta Import / Sport Compact on an Alberta Track. The pass was not backed up – due to rain – which saw many competitors leave Castrol on Friday night. This pass is not currently eligible for the list, as it is not backed up – or more appropriately, I am waiting for the back-up pass information time slip/video has not yet been received. You have 30 days to run 10.87 or quicker to have this pass stand. On your mark, get set, start wrenching…and now I’ll quickly change the subject.

We’ll continue with vr6T. This Volkswagen Rabbit pushing 500+whp has it sorted out now, and ran some very fast times. The “Bunny” is the undisputed king of FWD. 11.023 @ 127.53 is the time for the list with a back-up pass of 11.14 @ 133.07. Nearly diving into the 10’s, the passes made on September 30th by this car set the following records:

Fastest FWD pass in Alberta.
Quickest FWD pass in Alberta.

The time captures the number one position on the list, and since it is a new entry, everyone on the list is pushed down yet another spot.

ITLGO, my little Dodge SRT-4 went 11.371 @ 126.97 mph. A dry 35 shot of nitrous responsible for the time improvement. Not my fastest pass, but my quickest. The time captures the number two position on the list. This time set’s the following records:

Quickest 4-Cyl FWD pass in Alberta.
Quickest SRT-4 in Canada.

Can’t Stop Spinning ran an 11.452 @ 128.02 mph. This pass is good enough to grab the number three position on the list. A 128.22 mph trap speed on another pass represents his current best MPH. This time sets the following records:

Fastest 4-Cyl FWD pass in Alberta.
Fastest SRT-4 in Canada.

Collins, a new entry to the list, ran a 12.262 @ 117.63 in his 2005 Dodge SRT-4 ACR. This pass snags the number seven spot on the list, and occurred in Calgary at Race City on September 29th, 2006.

TedStriker, also a new entry to the list, ran a 12.473 @ 114.88 in his Dodge SRT-4. This pass grabs the number eight spot on the list, and occurred in Edmonton at Castrol Raceway on September 29th, 2006.

GoChris, another new entry to the list, ran 12.676 @ 117.27 in his 2004 Dodge SRT-4. This pass, unfortunately, falls short of the Top 10, however, it will land on the first position of the honorable mention list. Great pass, get some slicks and you’ll be on the list, as this pass was done with drag radials.

Limey, another new entry to the list, ran 12.722 @ 118.84 in his 2003 Dodge SRT-4 at Castrol Raceway. This entry also falls short of the Top 10, however it will find a spot on the honorable mention list. Good pass, lots more left in this car though.

Due to there being so many fast cars, and so many new entries, the entire Honorable Mention list from the last update is pushed completely off of the list! Wow! That’s absolutely crazy!

So, we say “asta la vista” to tsi_neal, Go4Long, SilverBoost, notaturbotalon and gpomp. Wow, just wow! The entire Honorable Mention crew gets ousted. Ouch, that’s gotta hurt.

Ok, let the craziness begin…ready, set, GO!

Z_Fan
Ron's car is being removed from the list at his personal request. The car is welcome on the list at any time in the future.

:dunno:

GoChris jumps onto the list in the #10 spot, and gpomp gets back onto the Honorable Mention list due to the withdrawal.

I have to admit that the numbers the SRT4's are running are very impressive. The only bad part is that my poor civic might just get bumped from the list:(

srt-4toys
srt's have 6 of the top ten spots

DarrylBleau
I, for one, would like to welcome our new neon overlords.

limey26
i ran an even better time on friday while you were there. I ran a
12.615@118.01.That should get me on the top 10 list.

Damn drag radials.

All i have to say next year is that i'll be challenging for the #1 spot with the build we have planned.

I under stand what u are saying. But I think that to run a 10.6 wouldn't be much of a fluke...
But again I know what your saying, but I personally think that the Back up past is B.S.

How was that negative at all? He was just stating the facts of the situation. Rules are rules. Would all of the other guys be pissed off if someone ran the top time but didn't provide slips? You bet your asses they would be. The rules have been laid out and they are the same for everyone.

That doesn't take away from the fact that Ron's car was amazingly quick and I don't have any doubts that he could repeat, or even beat the pass given the opportunity, but he hasn't done so YET. I say yet because there are still a few chances left this year to back up that pass and I, for one, hope to see him do so.

I'm all for anything that helps advance the scene. People acting like children and spamming the boards does not do this.

What? I'm sorry to say it, sir, but you are completely off your rocker. Yes, the hate runs so deep that I made sure to publically express my regret on his not being on this list, and that he has worked hard and deserves to be on it. Then, I hate him so much that I made sure to see him in person and congratulate him on his run when I was at the track.

You _are_ starting something, just thought I'd mention, because I was very careful to say very _positive_ things about Ron and to also be careful to make sure my comment on the back-up pass rule itself was _not_ directed at this event in particular.

I venture to go so far as to say that you must have something against me, I guess, I don't really know who you are but it seems you just have this need to find something negative from me against Ron. Whatever gets your rocks off I guess, sorry that there's no reality to it.

Wow, got here just in time to witness 2+ pages of this thread being deleted.

But, guys, rest easy - I read every post before deletion.

Praylewd powr
I am absolutely impressed with the performance of this thread, Z fans work, and the performance of all the cars on the list. If someone would buy my civic for my price, I would be the next one out there looking for an SRT4 to build up! They can't be beat for the engine!

I have been working some shitty shifts lately but as long as the track is open two fridays from now, I will be there with slicks trying to break into the 11's also. Or at least break some axles.

I have to get back on the list!

Timeslips from SCC Calgary!!!! :p

Come on now, get with the program. ;)

Z_Fan
A couple of updates for the list this time around.

Firstly, an old school Neon ran 11.2's at Race City on Friday October 13th. No time-slips for this car, but worthy to note it's out there and it's damn fast. It's not a Neon motor, but a Stratus dropped into the Neon...well, whatever, it's crazy quick.

Silverboost ran a new personal best in his Sentra SPEC-V. That's right, he pushed it a little further into the 12's with a 12.894 @ 107.90 mph. This doesn't make the Top 10 or honorable mention, but it's worthy to note what the fastest SPEC-V around is running at the track.

Darryl @ Subracing gets "Black Sunshine" on to the list with an 11.482 @ 123.28 mph. The 1991 Eagle Talon TSi backed that pass up with other runs, including an 11.534 @ 121.49 mph. These runs were at the SCC in Calgary. Good job Darryl, and the 11.482 lands in the #4 position on the Top 10.

GoChris is learning how to launch with his...errr...my slicks, and has improved his time by a solid three tenths. He goes from the bump position on the list up to #8 spot with a 12.357 @ 116.58 mph at Race City on October 13th. Nice run there!

This pushes Lococoin to the bump (#10) position on the Top 10, and Rice_Eater to the bottom of the honorable mention list. We say good-bye to gpomp's Honda Civic from the 15th spot. Hard to believe that a 12.763 run isn't good enough for 15th place! Crazy quick cars out there this year.

Well, that would be your update - and with the season already finished in Edmonton, and very likely to be finished soon in Calgary, it looks like the list is pretty close to final. I'll be accepting submissions for one week after Race City announces it is done for the year, and then we'll make the list officially official...<smile>

chris f
That makes 6 of the ten, neons, yes cheep crapy fall apart all the time, week engine, ulgy, unreliable. Did i metion that all of thoes where done on stock botom ends, stock heads, stock intake manifolds, stock axles. the spirit of the Honda owner just died.

Z_Fan
Wow:

2002 - 12.376 @ 114.00 mph
2003 - 12.214 @ 114.56 mph
2004 - 12.243 @ 115.74 mph
2005 - 12.184 @ 116.74 mph
2006 - 11.886 @ 120.83 mph

OK - So Race City is done, tonights final Secret Streets is cancelled due to the crappy weather we had today.

We'll keep things open for submissions for one week. So, if you want to get on the list, even if it is simply for the master list, submit your best times by Friday, October 27th, 2006.

The final update to the list will be published the weekend of the 28/29 of October, 2006. AND, that'll be the official list for 2006.

It's worthy to note there are other very quick cars in Alberta. Notably absent from the list is a screaming fast Neon that ran a few 11.2's in Calgary at the last Secret Street event of the year. No timeslips were received for that vehicle.

In addition, Ron's AWD Talon ran a 10.6 pass in Edmonton. Unfortunately that pass is not eligible for the list as no back-up pass was made as the Talon broke shortly thereafter. Ron's car was removed from the list at his personal request.

It's evident that the Dodge SRT-4 dominates this list. 60% of the cars in the top 5 are SRT-4s (3/5) and that can be said for the Top 10 (6/10) and the Top 15 (9/15). What is most impressive is that the SRT-4's are the only cars appearing in the Top 5 that aren't built motors [AFAIK the others are built]. All the SRT-4's on this list are running stock internals. Wow! Absolutely Incredible. The list is a real life testament to the amazing build strength of the factory SRT-4 block.

WeDgE
Dammit, I absolutely forgot to send in my 13.8 timeslip...ah well, there's always next year. :)
