I'm in need of (4) 245/50/16 tires.
I will be mounting and balancing them myself (most likely) because I seem to read horror stories about every shop in the city.
Where do you guys recommend going for just the tires? Who have you had a good (price-wise) experience with?
I just need ones that are cheap, and last. Performance isn't a huge issue since it's just summer tires and if I go to the track I need to put on slicks/drag radials if I want any sort of traction in my first 4 gears. |

Really?
Well for mounting & balancing I can recommend the southside Fastech Tires on 97st. They are more enthusiast-biased than your average run of the mill large-chain tire stores in town. And their employees aren't mindless monkeys or punks. I've never had any problems with the mounting and balancing they've done on any of my vehicles, and I've been going to them for 8 years.
As for the tires, their tire prices don't tend to be the cheapest, but they do offer good discounts to numerous car clubs. |

| Different shops get different deals on different brands of tires. Why don't you decide on a tire you want first, then look for the cheapest deal on that? I've never really understood why some people (mainly muscle car guys) are more interested in tire SIZE than what brand/model the tire itself is.. |

Brand/model isn't a big deal because it won't be used in any sort of performance application. |

I'll keep them in mind - if I get too busy with work and whatnot, I may get a shop to do it for me.
I have access to all the equipment to do the mounting and balancing, so it would save me $60, and I'd know its done right. |
