Bogging in first and second - Click HERE for Original Thread

Laser
Basically the car starts and idles good... but sometimes when i start moving in second gear and the rpm's are between 1500-3000 it will bog down and literally throw me around the car. same goes with going into second and cruising in third (rare)

this has been going on for about a week and now today my engine light came on everytime it bogged but then went away.

i didnt drive it much this winter so i put in new gas and fuel injector cleaner... but nothing has worked. what could this be?

my one battery terminal connector comes off easily could this be a problem?

sparkycivic
clean the battery terminal for sure: or blow the 8 bucks on a new pair from walmart. you need a lot of power to run the ignition system under heavy engine load.

noriceforme
are you turbo?

Fish_e_o
check your motor mounts...

if his motor mounts are completely gone the engine will be free to rock or "buck" creating a jerking motion usaully seen when traveling at low throttle and low rpm... it's worth a try

well if you are turbo id say you have a small boost leak!

ehos
What kind of car/year?

Check the easy stuff first. I would pull the plugs and check the wires.

Your battery connections have to be VERY solid. If your car is started and the connection is broken, it should still run. But it might not run at higher RPMS well.

(If it doesn't run, then your alternator might be kaput).

If that doesn't fix the problem, then it might be your injectors, bad gas etc etc.

Check ur plugs and wires, my brothers daytona did this when he had shitty wires, his moter mounts are shot too so it would buck you around. Check what code ur ecu is throwing, that might help too.

silvermist
another thing you might try is the distributor brushes may be going. my firebird did something like tis for about 8 months then it just died. it didn't go up hills vary well until I got it fixed.

ya ok.. sometimes it's hard to tell what they're talking about  :dunno:
he did say it threw him around the car i guess it was the first thing to pop into my head.. terms are so slurred anyway..

noriceforme
would broken engine mounts give an engine code?

Adam
Not usually...maybe a knock sensor, but I doubt it. Depends how sensitive it is. I wouldnt count on it at all though.

Get the code read at a service station, then you'll know.

crazy240sx
some codes you can read on the car itself, it will store it and display them whether it be the check engine light blinking or like my buddies talon, a buzzer in the diagnostic plugins and it beeps them off, look at the haynes manual for your car

apparently thats why you can't have solid motor mounts on an srt-4 (the knock sensor is to sensitive)

just a little tid bit.... might help

Check Your Throttle Posistioning Sensor. See if it Boggs in Nuetral maybe??? :dunno:
