Fast and the Furious 2 Movie V8less Show - Click HERE for Original Thread

Nightstalker
For those of you that didn't all ready know, we are planning a show for the premier of Fast and the Furious 2 on Friday june 6th. During the planning a couple things came up that I thouhg would be better answered by the people that would be making up the show. Please help us to see what you guys think. I would rather this is a collective effort to help maximize everyones enjoyment.

Here are the questions:

1. Would you guys be more interested in doing something on friday night or saturday all day long.

2. Where would you like the aftershow cruise that is being planned to lead and end up ?

The primary missions of the meet/show is just to get more recognission for the club and likley more importantly to get the word out about the offical V8less events that will occur later in the year. These would be v8less nights and the second SCC cup event. If you attend this show we will likely be giving out coupons that will get you like a dollar off getting into later v8less events your self, just as a added bonus.

We are planning on having some type of vender support at this show, any vender that is interested should contact myself or redbaron303 here on the board. There will be no charge for anything at this show its just for fun everyone is welcome.

Mike Barry "NS"

I personally enjoy Friday night cruises and shows :)

It doesn't matter to me, but like Mike, I would like to hear what the rest of you guys think.

If we do this on a friday night, it'll be like show starting around 6:00 or 7:00 and then cruise after the "late" show being the one that is on at 9:00ish, so it would be a later night cruise. People are not obligated to stick around for any set time but we would like to see you all there for a couple of hours each, and then come back and meet up at least 30 minutes before we take off on the cruise. We don't have show times so I figure these are just approx. times for now.

While you attend the show there will NOT be any tolerance of stunting, racing, and being a jackass to misrepresent V8LESS!!! We are having this to get word out about LEGAL racing events and especially our V8less drags/shows, so the better we look in the public eye, the more people we can and should see at these events, while at the same time changing the image of sportcompact drivers from irresponsible street racing punks to normal people! The police will know that we are using South Edmonton Common cineplex for the show and will be advised of our route, which will deter them from busting up a "gang" of car with big mufflers and tinted windows ;)

Well, a like the idea of an "all day long" party. we could have a BBQ for charity, and just hang out with our cars, answering questions people will undoubtedly have.

It will of course depend on the weather...

BBQ sounds good to me

saturday movies & crusie, ending up @ hawrelak for the BBQ??????

JDC™
Id say, it be better on a friday. But that just my preference, no real reason why.

It be cool to lead down to calgary to hook up with that Silent Rage party...

Almost
I'm still for a friday event, on the actual opening day of the movie,

isn't someone already planning a BBQ in April......?
Could always add another BBQ in June as a seperate event to improve upon the 1st.....

Nightstalker
and we are split down the middel :crying:

SlowAzzPorsche911T
I choose Saturday... there I broke the tie :D Saturday is better cause a lot of us work on Fri. and I work til 6ish and then I gotta detail my vehicle? :o how's about you come do it for me... or better yet Edwin... he chipped some paint off my baby with that shovel :tear: :tear: :tear:

chowder
I like the idea of the BBQ after the cruise. That way we can mingle with others within the V8less community. As well if there are clubs, clubs can meet. I'm willing to donate some food for the BBQ and I like the idea of the charity from Eric.

redbaron303
So Thai, does that place you for Saturday or for Friday?

JDC™
so like if we have a bbq or whatever....what time would that be....midnite?

redbaron303
We had one pretty late on our last "official" cruise last year... It was fun, this time we'll just have to bring a light so we can watch the food better :)

I think if we do a saturday show, we would like people to hang around for a lot of the afternoon.... from before the first matinee untill just after.... then we'll cruise and possibly have a bbq... :) We could also just cruise to...hawrelack park have the bbq, then go on the "official" cruise after the bbq :) I think cruisin at night is better, IMO.

I guess the better way to answer this is, if we do the show on friday night, we'll be there in the early evening and probably cruise around 10ish or later... which means late bbq if that happens too... :) Saturday we'll do the event in the hope to be nice hot weather w/ a cool breeze so we don't cook out there then cruise in the early......

Oh and if you have any concerns please PM me or NIghtstalker :)
(Hope this is making sense :D)

chowder
We did bring lights. Didn't we use our headlights that night for that BBQ. Too funny. But yeah, I was thinking of having the BBQ at night after the cruise but thats all up to Nightstalker on what he wants to do. We can always hit fast track right afterwards.

JDC™
cruising at night is better, chris

mrprecidia
Saturday

SRBURG13
I say that the event should take place on a Saturday. For numerous reasons.

1)People definately work on Fridays, and a lot do have to work past 6, so this would be difficult for them to attend on time. This would caust unorganization as people will be showing up late and screwing up the setup.

2)There will just be a whole lot more time to do things if it were a Saturday. I say there is to be a bar-b-q sometime during the day, like 3ish or so, then head to the theatre, and do the car thing, then the movie thing, then the cruise thing.

I think that the cruise should be done when there is still light out. Cause then you just can't see shit, and people that are watching us drive, won't be able to see the cars as well as we would like them to be, cause it will be too dark.

Thats just my 2 cents. I just see it going more smoothly that way. We don't want to be rushed on a Friday night anyhow.

REFLUX
will hawrelak be open that late?
a midnite - 1AM bbq????

i think MAYBE 5 ppl will show up for that???

1) if a cruise & bbq is to happen together, the event should be done late-afternoon (5ish) with a bbq/cruise afterwards around 10pm
2) if you guys who want a night cruise, i dont think a bbq afterwards would b a good plan
3) if you're thinkin bbq THEN a cruise, with Chris' "cruise after 11pm show" idea, it'll turn into "bbq after 11pm show", eat for 2-3 hours, then a cruise at 2AM

 NOT

sounds a bit unorganized, maybe the bbq should be skipped???

mr2_import
I say saturday cause sometimes i work really late friday depends on the job.. I like the bbq idea saturday is cool for moi!

ManHunter
Can we do it both days?

I realized, while reading the posts, that it would indeed be cool to be there on opening night. That's probbly when we'll get the most car freaks. And I was thinking saturday during the day to get more people because there will be more representations, and have the BBQ to attract people to our spot so they can look at the cars.

MH

Nightstalker
It is possiable to do it both days.. you really wana stand beside your car for 2 days strait eric =). (I would if mine looked that good) :D . I just don't wana have a event in which we only have like 5 or 6 cars you know. I was hoping to have at least 20+ cars on show at all times.. Saturday does seem to be winning.. If people would be willing to give me a 100% assurance that they would be there both days we could set that up for sure..

redbaron303
Terry, as for the bbq idea, it is a little unorganized that's why we've posted this. We need to hear what the majority of our group wants to do, and hopefully plan it when it's convenient for most people! :)

A lot of people are in favor of a saturday event... I think Aaron had a good idea, bbq in the afternoon then cruise to the theater have our car show, check out the movie if you want to... then cruise after the movies again for those who want?! That could work well on a saturday.

As for what Eric, MH, said... he is right most of the car junkies and people that really enjoyed the first one will probably catch it opening night, which means there would probably be more attraction for opening night. If we can get an add in the paper we may be able to get more people out to checkout the event on saturday though too! :)

Just some more ideas from me, but keep yours coming. Mike and I have alot to consider and arrange and we want to try and have the most # of people make it out to this event.

EclipseGSX
I am down for either day, but I do work for a few hours on Saturday

KimFidler
I'm down for either days..

Friday is good because there would be a TON of people there for the opening night of the movie.

Saturday is good because it gives us ALOT more time to do stuff.

It's up to you guys though! :D

Almost
okay i got the master of all plans........

Saturday we do the car show at the Cineplex...make it an all day event.....and we BBQ in the parking lot (no selling so we don't interefere with the Cineplex food profit)

that way everyone can chill around their cars, watch the movie in shifts, and people can see the cars in the light.......

then after the last movie showings, (and possibly a late night bbq snack) we go for a cruise in the dark.............

chowder
IMO, if we do a cruise, we do it at night. Sure you may be able to see it in the day light. its allot cooler at night when you drive down whyte ave when its busy and we get all the looks. By then, hopefully Markis can get us some V8less stickers. Some of us will be presenting the website via stickers on our cars.

Also, I would like to get a date down quite soon so I can relay information back to my group. I also never thought of it. But I kinda agree with Terry if we do this on the friday. It'll be pretty late for a BBQ after the cruise. But the decision isn't mine. I'll goto either dates but not both.

REFLUX
how about this:

we set the date for friday
DURING the time when all the cars arrive to cineplex (6-7PM) there is a bbq @ the parking lot
like Almost pointed out, can't interefere with theater profits/legalities

this way we can combine the bbq with friday AND the cruise in 1 day

so bbq is taken care of early friday evening & served until last show (not sure if 4hrs of bbq is possible tho)

after last show...late night cruise!!!!!

YAY!!!!!!

JDC™
if we have a bbq in the parking lot of the theatre and we're not gonna charge for the food.... how would ya do that, cause theres gonna be alot of non-show/car people there that would wanna get some free food ....
do you guys have a budget to spend on this/

KimFidler
I think we should charge for the barbecue and just give the profits to charity.

inglewood
saturday would probably be better in my eyes as well...

vr6T
I think saturday would be better. Start a car show in the parking lot at 12 noonish? then have a bar-b-q from 4-6pm. Clean up the stuff, and get ready for the 7pm rush of people. Plan for the cruise after dark some time, maybe right after the late show starts? Sounds like it should be an all day event to me.

If it were Friday:
by the time people rush home from work clean up the car, fire it up, and get to the south common, it will be past 7pm, and a lot of the people in the early shows will have missed a bunch of the cars, besides the fact that car shows are always nicer in the day time when its hot and sunny.

I would be there either day :) but i think Saturday would be better  Not up to me though...

SlowAzzPorsche911T
Well with the votes about 10-3 looks like Sat. :P

redbaron303
Well, it does seem like more ppl favor an all day event on Saturday. Mike and I have some interesting things to discuss that all of your brought up, give us a couple of days to do that and we'll get back to you.

Another thing we have to consider is ----> weather, what if the weather on friday is bad or what if it's bad on saturday.... do we want a "back up plan" and a contingency day to put on the show?

The theater would not appreciate us serving food in their parking lot, as it will deter people from wanting to buy more in their establishment. I want the bbq to be more of a private event for the v8less crowd that brought out their cars and took the time to make this event happen. If we do charge anything it'll go to a charity, but at the same time when we start charging we can be held liable for "stuff.." I mean if somebody were to crash their car in the parking lot or harwelack park Mike and I could be sued, BTW this will be a COME AT YOUR OWN RISK EVENT!!!! I would like to see people that want to bbq bring something, whether it be meat, pop, chips, condiments, I think for the amount of ppl that want a bbq if we all brought something then then we could "potluck" and just have fun.

Again, give us a few days to discuss this please.

For those of you that are in favor of an all day event on saturday... are you willing to keep your cars there from 12ish-7ish as suggested and go on the cruise after?

& Chris, that's why i said scrap the bbq idea unless cineplex supplies the food & we sell @ cineplex pricing & all the money goes to cineplex (or split it for charity, like MADD)

redbaron303
well we have three ppl that are up for hanging around all day saturday :)

I talked to mike and we were also thinking of having an informal meet on friday and possibly in "improv" car show, just a play it by ear thing... then have the "official" car show on saturday, and we'll do the bbq in the afternoon on saturday before the car show, so everyone can get to know everyone just a little :)

So it may turn out to be a two day event, with the main day being saturday... we'll be talking to cineplex this upcoming week hopefully and should know more by this time next week!

vr6T
I'd be in to hanging around, and bs'ing all day.

uncle ben
i'll be there saterday, and can leave my car there all day. I'll just see a crapload of movies and check on my ride in between  . But there's no way friday will work :(

redbaron303
Manhunter, Reflux, mrprecidia, uncle ben, vr6t, myself, and mike... come one ppl, who else is interested in coming out for the day on saturday...?

What about the shops, do you want free advertising for yourselves? Speak with myself or Nightstalker about that...

turbomike
friday night good sat good too

redbaron303
Saturday Allday event and cruise in later evening :)
Manhunter, Reflux, mrprecidia, uncle ben, vr6t, turbomike, myself, and mike... come one ppl, who else is interested in coming out for the day on saturday...?

KimFidler
I'm down for hanging out all day

blk240sx
well i say friday is okay but the car show part of it wont be that big because it don't really give evryone in the city a chance to get down to see the cars......so saturday would be good to to get more of a crowd but the cruz should 4 sure be at night,........or even cruz to the event in the day then a cruz after at night but whatever works 4 you guys

Almost
I'm sure we can work something out with Cineplex about the BBQ.....I still favor a potluck/bbq JUST for us.....no moochers

or a profit sharing/charity donation etc.......although we'll need a temporary license from the city to sell food.....health standards to meet...it gets a lil complicated.

I'll be there all day Saturday...

redbaron303
Saturday Allday event and cruise in later evening
Manhunter, Reflux, mrprecidia, uncle ben, vr6t, turbomike, KimFidler, Almost myself, and mike... come one ppl, who else is interested in coming out for the day on saturday...? Just 10 of us, and I thought you guys were out there to show off your rides.... :D

Troy, as for the bbq it'll be something just for us... We'll do it as the premeet on saturday... seems best for now :)

bunch
I'd hang out all day Saturday for sure :D

I'll actually be bringing 3 rex's.....Kato (who apparently is too busy playing with his MPFI swap to post here any more..), myself and a friend (She isn't on the boards yet)

Have you talked to the theatre yet? any word on the DJ idea? or any of the rest of the stuff we had hoped to look into?.....hmmmm maybe we should start another post for that stuff.

Oh and Troy, no word yet... we'll be speaking w/ the theater hopefully this week... we're just waiting on a few other things :)

Nightstalker
Yes, me and chris will be talking to the theater this week so we wana get a set idea down, I am sure that more then 10 cars are going to show up.. heck chowder said a very large % of the RSX club will be coming with him so there will be cars.. Any car is welcome to park if you are a member.. of course it is likely that the nicer (more riced out) cars will get priority parking..

RezaREX
Chris,

Put me down for it all. I'm in both days and can help out with whatever you need.

redbaron303
Christian.... remember how I got the keys to your car last time... this time I will use them!!!!!!

Troy... not funny!

No momma jokes in here... just fnf2 posts, try to keep it clean!

Nightstalker
the funny thing about that is that the word Clean is about the last thing I think of when I think fast and the furious.. mostly i just think why did they need to have a pink honda... why did they paint the honda pink...

Anyway... anyone have any new ideas for anything ?

WookeysRX7
Put me on the list! Hopefully my car will have the shocks/rims/paintjob by then!
 :fingersx:

ChromeDragon
I should be out, hopefully with the Buick

chowder
As I would like to have it on friday night. I was talking to cflude and praxrx7, it would be better if we had it on the saturday instead. Plus lets drop the the v8less show part. Lets just call it teh FNF2 meet. Something we discussed yesterday. Its just a suggestion.

redbaron303
Here is the plan for now, while we look at more options and ideas:

More details will be revealed as it comes closer to the date.

Fast and Furious 2 Meet
-Premeet 1:00-2:00 (to explain our rules, and events, and provide people with a "map" of the route we'll be taking, just some time for us (the organizers) to meet with you and make sure you know what is going down with this event :) )
-cruise @ 2:00pm-6:00pm when we end up at theaters
-Shownshine from then till after later show
-Then you're on your own

FingerPuppet
I'm in, but right now I don't have a pimp ride...

redbaron303
Pimped rides are nice, and we'll have them "upfront" for the show if at all possible.... but they are not required, as an organizer I should have a stunning car but when you see it you'll know it isn't :) (I'll park mine somewhere in the shadows). We just want the V8less members (lurkers and active posters) to come out have some fun BUT be responsible and behave while attending this event... meaning no assnine donuts, burnouts, racing... blah blah blah! I shouldn't even have to say that, but I get the feeling from some people I've talked to that a few bad apples will try to spoil this for the rest of us... we don't want that to happen. Like we've said we're letting local law enforcement know about our activities and plans, maybe they'll ease up on the "tinte/exhaust" tickets providing we all BEHAVE :) Remember the goal is to better represent v8less on the streets, have a ton of fun, and promote LEGAL racing and driving :) So not every asshole and their dog thing sportcompact drivers are dinks!

KimFidler
Sounds like a great plan to me :)

I think we should split up the cars in groups but it's up to you guys. I know I'll be driving with DC5AB so maybe all the RSX's together, all the Rex's, etc.

:) This should be pretty fun.. so are we going to be eating food?

siopao
sounds like a great plan to me.. hopefully i get new goodies for my car by then
B)

KAOS41
Count me in!!! I imagine most of civicevolutions will also be in attendace.

redbaron303
For now, we haven't scheduled a bbq or anything for food.

I was actually thinking that if there is enough interest after the show anyone that wants to can just bring their own food and we can go to a park and bbq there just as a group of ppl not as a part of the v8less event...

JdmCrx
I'm in, cept my car sucks. I'll just hafta steal either my friends integra or prelude.

djshortys
either or man, COME ON OUT!

RxKevin
I'm IN!! Sounds wicked guys, I'm in fo sho! haha

Zazam
Yeah I'm in for sure too! When you guys find a good time and place to have it thats fair to everyone, post it and people will start rolling in with their rides.

Almost
Just a suggestion to help with the organization, how bought a topic where everyone coming (100% for sure!!)

posts 1 (one), a single, not 2 or 3 or a dozen, but only 1 (am I clear?) picture of their ride, that way we know who's driving what, how modded they are and where the hell were gonna put them all....

might help with the promoting too...

chowder
Everything will be revealed in time. There is lots of time left. Be patient. The cruise portion of has been planned out.

redbaron303
As for the show portion... there are still somethings that Mike and I are waiting on.... We'll have more ideas + answers hopefully by next weekend.

Nightstalker
I bought a 300 foot roll of perimiter tape today so we can lock off the cars. Me and chris are going to meet with the theater this week hopefully, if the magical phone call is made.. :D

redbaron303
Small recap of the potential plan for now...

Fast and Furious 2 Meet
-June 7th, 2003 (Saturday)
-Premeet 1:00-2:00 (to explain our rules, and events, and provide people with a "map" of the route we'll be taking, just some time for us (the organizers) to meet with you and make sure you know what is going down with this event )
-cruise @ 2:00pm-6:00pm when we end up at theaters
-Shownshine from then till after later show
-Then you're on your own

If anyone else has more ideas, feel free to post them and we'll have a look.... :)

As for June 6th the premier day, it seems that more ppl want to attend our event on the saturday instead... If there is enough interest when the time comes we could just have an informal meet there.... just an idea, but for now we'll go w/ saturday as it works best for more ppl!

EclipseGSX
I will bring the potato salad!!

darkman
I will be beside a bright pink Civic the whole time... :o

redbaron303
You have a bright pink civic???

darkman
No no no no! What I meant is that my car will be parked beside a pink Civic. Hahaha! Not mine so no worries!

redbaron303
If you hd the pink civic that just means you're comfortable w/ your sexuality....

darkman
I got a green Civic....that is bad enough already....

Nightstalker
hey there is nothing wrong with driving a civic.. espcially if its a EG+.. all the guys that drive preludes and integras are suckers.. carrying all that extra weight along with them. If you are going to dis a civic you are more intellegent to diss honda as a whole..

I don't diss the preludes or the intergras....preludes are very nice for their purposes IMO(5th gen) and the integras....most of the extra weight goes to safety standards and luxury features here in North America. Bleh! Weight reduction is required!

and so you should sucka! hahaha :) It's all good P!
