Where would one recommend a reputable place to install aftermarket lowering springs.
And around what prices would i be expecting.
Nothing too expesively crazy. ($100-200) I've done some searching on the forums, but there hasn't been any recent posts.
And where would be a good place to get an alignment done.(one that does alignments on lowered vehicles) Some places can't do alignments on lowered vehicles because the bumpers or something will block the lasers that it uses for the alignment?.... or something like that.
-Thx! |

canadian tire also rents spring compressors for free, all you need is a $110 deposit which gets refunded when you return the tool. Your car is prob pretty new as well so there souldnt be any siezed nuts or bolts yet. It took me a couple days to install my coilovers but thats because a few of the bolts up fromt were seized in good. but the back took me like 1/2 hour a side. Its as easy as undoing the bolts on the strut tower and which ever ones have it connected to the control arm, pull out the whole assembly, compress the spring untill its loose, remove the strut, install the new spring, and reasemble. should no more that 7 bolts per side quite easy as long as you have basic hand tools, and a pipe for leverage with the ratchet for trickier bolts.
So as long as you have basic tools, spring compressor rental will cost you nothing and you can have it done for free, with maybe a days work if you are by yourself and its your first time |

I'm looking for a shop to do this as well. I have the springs and camber bolts on order and they will be in soon. After DTP, I asked MacGyver's for a quote, and since they hadn't done a car like mine before, they quoted an outrageous price for the install and alignment - $520 - 6 hours and $390 for the install plus $130 for the alignment. The factory manual quotes half that time, and that would be for a general shop, not a suspension-specific shop like MacGyvers.
People on other forums have done the install themselves and have been able to do the whole install in a couple of hours in their driveways. This leaves the alignment, of course, but the basic install should be simple enough.
If I can find a shop that will quote the spring install at three hours, I'll go there. Otherwise, I'll just do it myself. |

I found their name looking at other threads here, and am going to visit them on the way home today. Nice hours, too - they seem to understand that people work for a living.
Thanks for the confirmation that they are a good shop - what I've seen so far impresses me. |
