curits, your not going to get this engine swap. Not realistic enough for you. You are looking at $6000.00 +++++ to get this all said and done. Then what something breaks... ur looking at some more money.

here is the break down for you. $4300.00 for the engine. Now you need to get a new OBD version (new wiring for your car). You need a new shift linkage, transmission, front axle, new clutch, water pump, timing belt, etc. PLUS SHIPPING. Now shipping hurts alot too. The your stuck with a USED engine. Now you need to Install this engine. you will also need a new ecu, and if it isnt a longblock, more misc parts to nickle and dime urself to death.

Now to be more realistic, go out and buy a B18 NON - VTEC engine for a few hundred dollars. And drop that in. Then turbo the fucking thing. Before turbo you are looking at 140+ HP. After turbo you are looking at 200+ hp. and it is a cheap solution. or Even a ZC swp in ur car because it is a 1989 civic HB. Anyways, good luck, give me a shout, I will help you out. -Peace

B18C5 is not cheap.

Like your friend said, a B18A or B18B will be a couple hundred bucks, throw another $1000 into parts for the swap, and boost it for another $1500. A B18C5 will be upwards of $5000

They never made the B18C5 in Japan....

It's not as simple as a direct bolt on kit, a few replacement upgrades, and the engine drop in.

Even a simple B16 swap that I did with my old car (5 yrs ago) came out more than I had budgeted.

I would say the budget would even be more than $5K. Then factor in another 50% for tuning and tuning parts. By that time you would be close to $10K. Unless your moneybags, it's not worth it especially for a EF, EG, or EK series which would be at least 8 yrs old now?

okay well i'll inform ya a bit....

b18c1 and b18c5 are names for usdm engines...the c1 is in the integra gsr and the c5 is in the type r

the last "1" and "5" were added for the usdm engine. jdm engines do not have the last number. the jdm type r engine is simply called the b18c

and to anyone else...this works with all jdm honda engines..

D16y8 & D16z6 are equal to the JDM d15b
B18c1 & B18c5 are equal to the JDM b18c
h22a1 h22a2 h22a3 h22a4 h22a5 is equal toJDM h22a
K20a2 is equal to the JDM k20a
b16a1 b16a2 b16a3 b16a4 equal to the JDM b16a
b18a1 equal to the JDM b18a
b18b1 eqaul to the JDM b18b

so on and so forth...i might've made a couple mistakes in there with the certain engine codes but you get the jist of it....when they came over from japan my guess is they just added the last number to verify exactly which car it was in and possibly the obd

happy?

and if you'd like us to help further tell us what year your civic is? you say it has a d15a in it...can't say i've ever heard of that engine...

if you have a 88-91 civic you either have a d15b2 or a d16a6
if you have a 92-95 civic you have either the d15b7 or d16z6
if you have 96-00 you have either the d16y7 or d16y8
if you have a 99-00 civic sir you have the b16a2

when you do b series swaps you usually want to stay in your obd to make life alot easier

88-91 civics are obd0
92-95 are obd1
96-00 are obd2

and if i made any mistakes anyone wants to clear up that'd be great...im dead tired and half drunk...im bound to make mistakes
