Ok, first, and formost, it is not my car, i am just using it untill i find a new car. Also, there is no owners manual in the car anywhere. Soo, how do i read the dipstick on the car? It sounded a little like the lifters where ticking, and the mait req'd light is on, been like that since i started using it. So anyways, i pulled out the dipstick, and there is a little bit of oil on it after wiping it off... But no markings anywhere to say when it is full, or needs more oil etc. So, can anyone tell me where on the dipstick to full it up to?
thanks,
Paul. |

There are a few ways. Sometimes it's just 2 lines, one is minimum, one is maximum. You want to be ON the highest line or slightly below it. Sometimes it's just a "criss cross" pattern on the dipstick. Again, you want to be on the top of that criss cross pattern.
If your lifters are ticking, true using Lucas Oil Additive next oil change. It thickens up the oil a bit and help the oil move along moving parts rather then throwing oil everywhere.
Also, that "Maintenance soon" light isn't always an oil light. Often it's a check engine light which means something is wrong (Eg. An 02 sensor isn't toggling). Have the car scanned. |

| There are no markings on the dip stick at all, no lines, no dots, no XXXXX pattern, nothing. Thats why i'm wondering. |

There has to be. Maybe the markings wore off, but I'm not thinking so on a 02 civic. Got a pic? |
