Ebay performance chips - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hey, I was just wondering about the performance chips off ebay, for like 30 bucks, will acually give you a noticable increase in power?
Something like this for instance:

Or are they just a waste of $$$

Thx

Adam

I have been running several of them stacked with great results!

Alot of times these arent even chips, they are just a resistor that they tell you to plug in. Waste of money and time man

I totally thought there wasn't anybody out there stupid enough to ask that question...Man if it sounds to good to be true..IT IS! If your looking for preformance gains in you..Lesaber I guess you have? Ahh basic mods are intake/exhaust/ignition.(I would say header but I doubt its worth it on that car)

a coworker got one of the "modules" once from ebay, and you know what he got for his 20 bucks???????

a 470 ohm resistor TAPED to an INSTRUCTION SHEET detailing where to stick it... to the airflow sensor of his golf

I've heard of people putting those things on Neons, got a slight, and I mean slight performance boost for a couple days then the ECU clued in and it was like they never put it in.

I would stay away from OBD1 Chipped ECU's off eBay as well. It took me 2 ECU's and over $400 to learn my lession. First one I got was a Converted P06 ECU (Which they said was a P28) and the second was a P28 but running the wrong chip.

Thankfully I knew someone to reburn the correct program and get it running correctly, but still, buyer beware.

Do some looking around in other. Don't do ebay for chips. Check forums for the car and ask around and see what other people are doing to get the extra hp.

I bought a chip off the internet for my car, but I did some research and looked into it. The chip for my car maps out the fuel for me when I turn up the boost. Chips on other cars usually adjust the timing and add more fuel air. Depends on what you buy and what youre looking for.

Yeah you probably bought a proper chip to slap into an ecu or an ecu type thing. I think the thread is about those $20 miricle chip(the resistors or the diodes) things, that if you install right before hitting the 1/4 track and remove promptly right after, might and I mean might help a bit. And by bit I mean small bit.
