How much would it cost to swap a manual into an auto h23 4th gen prelude?

get that parts list off prelude power ;)
i posted that write-up haha.
i did the conversion about 6-8 months ago on my h22 4th gen.
h23 parts are cheaper, tranny is around 3000-400 from jdm source, its the small shit thats hard to find. like pedals, shifter/cables, clutch damper, etc. some wireing needs to be done as well.
i paid about 1000 for labour, 1000 for parts the first time.
then my trany blew up and i did it all over again.

any questions pm me.

newaccorddriver
that shits easy to do, you should have just did it yourself like me.

seriously though, its not worth doing unless the car means something to you, or is mint for its age. otherwise, just find a 5 speed one

2ndgenlude
it can be a headache. im still paying it off.

interesting how i can perform like 13 5 speed swaps for the price of your tranny alone. and i already blew up one tranny, i got 11 more to blow until i match the price of yours, its just really annoying to run out for another one

the answer to your problem was really an H23 tranny and a quaife when you need it. not some JDM shit box that cant be repaired here

2ndgenlude
it does what its supposed to haha.
i almost wish i got the h23 tranny just because the longer gears when im boosted.

that and the fact that H23+quaife=JDM h22+LSD

H23=$300
quaife=$1100
JDM H22 with LSD=$1300

kinda sucks that you bought the wrong thing cause a quaife has lifetime warrenty, and your JDM one doesnt. that means if your JDM one goes, its gone forever unless you pay a dealership a little visit in japan

Sounds like I'll wait a bit and stick with my auto. Anyone on here willing to do a swap? I pay them :dunno:

for your accord, or a prelude? the swaps pretty straight forward that even anyone with a bit of mechanical skills can do

2ndgenlude
i would be willing to help out. it isn't hard with a couple people. take like a weekend.

more then a weekend. took 3 months on and off for mine. realisticly 10 hours of actual labor though. its alot more costly to do the swap then you think though. and considering its for a prelude or accord, its pretty much triple what it costs to do mine

2ndgenlude
you didn't have parts though. you were vuisiting crappy tire everyday

if everything is organized a weekend should be doable.

The swap for the prelude SR 4ws that I just got. Now I got an accord and a prelude.

I was thinking if I can get all the parts on the part list. I'll pay you guy(s) $500 to convert it to a 5 spd and also change the CV joint/shaft if you don't mind..... I also don't need to drive it till sept, or until I sell my accord, so we got lots of time.

shift
Henry, I think there is less headache, if you bought a vehicle that is already 5speed.

Sorry, I don't mean to piss on your parade

chu77
Yeah, I'm thinking to keeping this prelude for my sister and buy another 5 spd. That way I'll have 2 preludes in my house. ;)

your not pissing on his parade. your just trying to saev him time/effort/money which is a good thing. it isnt really worth doing to that car anyways considering their not expensive or rare at all. if its got sentimental value to you, then by all means go for it, but you havent owned it long, so its probably not worth much

2ndgenlude
i would do it for 500/piece if 2 guys were doing it, total $1000
its a lot of work. i say just buy a 5spd.
mine is mint. no rust, low km;s, etc. geting dents fixed soon. they bother me so much. i will do the the swap. its just a pain.

chu77
Yeah the one I got only has 201,xxx kms and its 4ws. Loaded with goodies like heated seats etc.

Are 4ws sr's rare?

4WS was a gimmick that never really caught on. its good for parking, but thats about it. and if a part goes out, enjoy replacing it

newaccorddriver
even if we did do the swap, we could only do so much. for the finer things like adjusting the shift cables, the dealership might have to do it. asides from that, its not too hard to do
