| GOT BOOST |
Hi Everyone,
I am pleased to announce the sucess of Supra_Devil's lower intercooler pipe he fabricated for my Supra.
This pipe has been make out of 2.25" exhaust pipe and connects to several silicone house couplers with T-Clamps. The last pipe has a 2.00" reducer on it to connect to the IC. Around the edges of the pipes, Glenn had placed some bead weld to ensure the silicone couplers to not slip in during installation. This is a nice set up for when I decide to upgrade my IC. The delivery and timing of the pipes were perfect. Installation to the turbo was quick and easy once I figured out which flange went where after painting them. Yes Glenn, I painted it "Ricer Red" just for you! In the event of needing to replace a turbo again, this will make an even more easy task.
The only two downsides to the pipes is that the factory aluminum/steel bend does not bolt to the frame of the car as I had wished it originally and how it was from the factory. However this is not a big issue for me as everything is solid and the pipes do not move. The car gains and holds boost well at .70 Bar. :D I have not pushed to .95 or 1.00 bar yet as I am still breaking in the turbo! The car feels like it is pushing more with less boost. I am not certain if this is because I no longer have a massive boost leak and a new turbo, or simply because the old stock swelling and cracked rubber pipe has been replaced.
The second down side to the pipes is that because they are larger and moved out more from the frame from the original pipes, there is not alot of clearance for the T-bolt clamps. One needs to be creative and be carefull of where you place them and how you tighten them.
I highly reccomend Glenn for fabrication of IC pipes, or exhaust work.
Thanks Glenn, the hook up!
