Any budget in mind?
If it's $3000+ a Dell XPS is good.

For a gaming laptop you wan to make sure you have a good video card, top right now in a laptop seems to be a 7800go, Lotsa ram, like 1Gb, when picking your hard drives, choose a 7200rpm drive over a 4500, or a 5400rpm drive - this will kill your battery faster, but there is a noticable performance diferreance.

I myself have a Dell 9300, speced out to pretty much last years XPS, without the fancy shell, so it cost a couple hundred less. I was looking at a Compaq or HP, but they didn'thave any models I woulda wanted at the time(those came out about 3mo later). I looked at a highend Toshiba, and feature to price the Dell was a better deal.

With Dell you gotta watch it though, the run promotions like weekly. I spec'd a laptop out for my wife last Wednesday, Frick on the Canadian site it was $2300, on the US site it was like $1600(USD). Even after currancy conversion we're still getting bent over, I even called and talked tot eh US sales team to ask if i could order direct, she said I could order, but they would have to drop shi it to somebody in the states who would have to re-ship it cross board.

Anyhow, I even asked why going froma x1400 to a 7800go on the us site was a $40(usd, $44 in CAD) option and a $200 option on the Canadian one... she had no answer.... but if you spec a Us model and a canadian model.. you might be able to work a deal with that info.

The Dell XPC is a proven winner. But is you really want to stand out, check out AlienWear. They specailize in high end custom computers and laptops. The're based out of Edmonton but just go bought out by Dell.

I absolutely love my XPS. It's speced out aside from only getting the 2.0 ghz Centrino, but I still haven't hid the limits of the processor yet.
The downside is that I had to pay close to $4000 for it, but I am more than satisfied with the performance, and the WOW factor when I whip this baby out in public.
Imagine BF2 at 1920x1200 resolution at 50+ FPS.
It also is the best sounding laptop I have ever experienced, the tiny little built in sub makes worlds of difference!

Heh yeaH, 4.1 on a laptop. my 9300 has that as well.. most ppl get eh wow factor from just the screen.. never mind the resolution.

My 9300 was specd to be close to an XPS, without the fancy LEDs and top cover, was $3600 Dell web price, my work got it for me at like $3100
