Turbo system coming together - Click HERE for Original Thread

ChromeDragon
Right off here you can see all the wiring relocated to the opposite side of the engine bay for the AFM and whatnot as well as the battery gone to a new home.

Glenn drilling the intercooler piping holes and getting extremely pissed off. Eventually he got pretty aggravated with being precise and cut some intercooler hose with an angle grinder ... don't do that, it's a lot of stinky smoke, hehe.

The positive battery isolation post that we spent about 8 hours at Greggs getting. Actually it was all of the intercooler piping as well, but what a pain in the meowmeowmeowmeowing ass that was. We were literally there for about 1 and a half hours.

The turbo and manifold. Picked up the turbo earlier in the day from Mike aka Trueno4life (thanks mike, it's looking like it will work great) The biggest pain in the ass will be getting the external wastegate on I'm thinking.

Battery in it's new home in the trunk (not actually fastened down in the photo, had to move the box for access to the fuel pump port ... for which the fuel pump still hasn't arrived even though it was paid for before the manifold.:cursing:

Glenn (supradevil) displaying that his curves a little bit to the right ... who'd have thunk it?happy bday!

And last but not least, the Bosch BOV. Glenn does have some more shots of the turbo actually mounted in the car, I didn't bring my camera by until after we had already pulled it back out.

So that's it for now. We have all of the cold piping on the intercooler done, hot piping and the manifold should be done before the end of the weekend so I'll at least be able to fire it up with just the manifold.:D

More to come ...

gluck chrome starting to look good , how much boost you planning on?

car
what is the size of that hairdryer ?!

j/k , looks awesome! good luck with the rest.

ChromeDragon
It's a T25 off of a CA18, but I only plan on running 6 or 7psi so it will work well for my needs. We were able to just rotate the inlet 120 degrees and it fits quite nicely in the car. The fun part now will be making a downpipe and mounting the wastegate.

car
is it a ca18 t25 ?

woah, must be the angle of the shot or something, it looks so tiny on that manifold...

MightyMidget
looks good Matt.....get some more pics dumbass!!:asshole:

ChromeDragon
Here is the whole album of shots.

A couple of shots from yesterday.

Everything mocked up

The stock turbo outlet elbow works pretty damn well:thumbup:

Remote filter mount installed. Hoses will go on today as we didn't have clamps yesterday.

extra fuel is being added how? Alos are you going to to recir the bov? In vaf afm cars its usually better too. Like the mani, looks good:thumbup:

THUD
Look's like a fun way to spend a weekend and that set up should help you take care of your tires tread depth problem.
That Oiling setup you have is kinda neat, looks better than the usall way of taping into the oil pressure sending unit.
Are you gona run cooling lines (lines with fin's) or anything like a tranny cooler?
Anyway's glad to see you got that sucker in!

The car already has an oil cooler, those are some of the lines you see running there.

Extra fuel will likely be added with an additional injector controller. As for the BOV, I'll try it venting to atmosphere at first, if it causes problems it's easy enough to run a line across and recirculate it.

Well it'll prolly just run rich/like crap when it vents. Miatas use the same afm and thats what happens but its nothing of concern if your not looking for peak performance.

Supra_devil
some cars don't seem to care too much about venting, and since the car was never turboed anyways (so the ecu isn't trying to dump tons of fuel, at least, not enough for the turbo), and the vaccum source for the AIC will be off the manifold, it may not cause a rich condition at all. Or it will still, just to be difficult. we won't know till we do it. and like he said, its simple enough to fix, all i have to do is weld a piece on the intake pipe and run a hose, not hard.

EK9Hatch
What kind of Manifold is that? Welds look kinda sketchy from what I can see. I never seen one "shinny" turbo manifold that had quality before. Some info on the mani would be nice.

And btw, looks good so far, hopefully everything ties together nicely! :)

looks good matty!!!!

It's SSAutochrome. The welds actually had better penetration than we were expecting, so we're not too concerned about that.

What does a manifold being stainless have to do with its quality though? There are millions of manifolds and headers made of stainless out there that have no problems.:dunno:

Didn't quite understand what ur saying in ur post there, just to clarify; when venting a vaf to the atmosphere if the air has been measured already and it vents you will have a rich condition, it might not be bad but it will be there. Maybe I'm just missing how your going about tuning it though...This is a nice project to see as me and my buddy will be turbboing his 86 this winter:thumbup: (low boost aswell)

midnite
When do you think it will be back on the roads?

edmCRX
lookin good man! :)

i suck at internet talking, can't explain worth SHIT!

but what i tried to say, is that the stock ECU will be maxed for its readings before the car is even on boost, so it will be dumping all it can already, so the real tuning will be in the AIC.
the AIC will get its vaccum source from the manifold, so when the throttle plate shuts and the BOV opens, it won't see any boost, and possibly we won't have tuning issues.

i really wish i had more money to tune my supra when i had the 5m turboed, i could have made a lot more power with a simple AIC or more adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

MightyMidget
bump...come on Matt...get that damn thing going!!! :drama:

Supra_devil

we plan on getting some rear end shit done. tommorow hopefully the DP will be started

MightyMidget
gAAAAAAAAAAAwd....hurry up!!

ChromeDragon
You could help, jackass!

We'll be going for broke tomorrow night. Hopefully we get it going.

edmCRX

tell me more about the battery isolation post. IE part numbers!!!!

ChromeDragon
Ummm, go to Greggs on 118ave and ~162st and look through the display cases. Once you find the electrical stuff they have a few different style posts, choose what you need and take the number to the counter. Be sure to tell the guy that there are some company letters in front of the number. We just gave him the number at first and he couldn't find the part.

MightyMidget
done yet?? ASSHAT:p

orangeteg
That's a sexy manifold and wastegate  , when is it gonna be finish matt?

ChromeDragon
Should be this week. We've run into issues, but there are only a few things left to do.

and was  with the car and didn't even look at it for a few days.

Drifted
i have done the turbo ae thing . you will need to recirc it .
i have found that forge make a valve for maf cars that vents to atmosphere but works well , no stalling or f'd up idle

I expect it next month!!!!!!!!! :drama:
