So many cars with body damage on the roads! - Click HERE for Original Thread

REFLUX
Anyone else notice the increase in damaged cars driving around?

Probably at least 1 in 4 cars that you see has a dented fender or bumper.

Worst I saw was a Camry that looked like it rear ended a truck.
Hood bent right in the middle, bumper pushed down, engine bay showing, both fenders damaged....still driving around.
Makes you wonder if they could even see over the hood.

Probably the best time for seeing vehicles like this - people still driving around with damage from the winter, and others with fresh damage from the spring craze. I'm driving my Intrepid around with the passenger side sideswiped, unfortunately(or fortunately for me) the damage occured while the vehicle was in possession of the previous owner and I have no will to repair it as its only cosmetic.

I think a lot of it is that fewer and fewer people are either:
- Carrying collision coverage
- Willing to make a claim

So they drive around with their damaged cars.

It's ironic, but the cops say more accidents happen on sunny days with dry roads than in the winter. In winter, people are paying attention to their driving more. Now, they're more focused on their burger from McDonalds, putting the next CD in and yakking on the cell phone. You don't see that as much in the wintertime.

So, yeah, there's more fender benders at this time of year.

you can thank Alberta's lack of fair or public insurance for the lack of claims / repairs.

christ.. they almost contradict the meaning of the word "insurance"

rest assured that should anything happen to your car - you get the bill

i noticed that .. i thought drivers in quesnel bc were bad.. but here in edmonton JESUS!.. not saying you guys are bad its the other idiots... every day i go on white mud there is an accident where like 6 cars rear end eachother

ChromeDragon
You think Edmonton is bad then go to L.A. I could not believe the amount of damage on the vehicles down there. We kept joking that they all had to Pitt manuever each other to get a spot on the freeway, but sadly it's probably true.

Iused to live just south of Oakland California , you havn't seen bad driving till you have driven 580 or 680 through oakland. i have seen a cargo van truck hanging off of an overpass on the freeway but its duallies! rollovers every where,
I had a white prelude not paying attention at all just swerve into my lane and caught me off guard and I swerved and ended up destroying my mustang SVO only so much you can do at 110km/h and someone comes right at your passengers side fender! Edmonton drivers are bad but they are children compared to cali drivers!
I was talking to a tuner guy there in a parking lot one night and he was like "yeah if I ever get pulled over and the cop takes my keys, i just open the console and get my spares, when he isn't lookin , im gone. "

It's all Drift Battle Damage.

Car_Be_Gone
OMFG! Today I had the privilege of driving behind a red cav. with the front window totally smashed & spidered (looked like someone's head went through it) and rear side window smashed out... At a read light I could barely see through his window, dunno how he did. Not too mention he was driving like a complete ass, nearly ramming into a motor bike TWICE! trying to get onto Y.H. For the 2 blocks that I was on the road with the moron he caused nearly 3 accidents and tail riding everyone, swerving in & out...times like this I wish I had my cell on me:mad:

I think the police should be cracking down on vehicles that are damaged like that instead of going after people with enlarged exhausts and such. These damaged vehicles are way more of a threat to others safety then modified cars are.

Ya I have some stuff on my car I can get tickets for but my car is in perfect running condition, all my lights work, I can see through my windsheild (no cracks) etc. So how can someone with a smashed up car get away with taping red platic over there smashed taillight, or driving around with no front bumper and grill.....how is that safe?

And you can't tell me someone with a smashed up rusted piece of crap is concerned about making sure their brakes are 100% either can you.

As you can tell thats one of my pet peeves

dance_of_curse
what about the cars that look like they are about to fall apart cause you can see theres rust peeking though EVERYWHERE thats more scary. thinking the car infront/beside you may fall apart at the next bump..

There aren't more taffic accidents, this time of year there's worse accidents. In winter there's a high volume of minor accidents with an average of 106 daily in the edmonton area after a fresh coat of snow. While in summer there's less than half of that daily and still major accidents happening.

I agree with Trevor.

If you're in an at-fault accident you have two options:

-Claim it through your insurance, raising your premiums and in the long run probably losing you more money.
-Paying for the damage out of pocket

Both of these options cost a great deal of money, and if someone is in a minor accident they often choose to leave it be as it is simply cosmetic damage and they don't want to spend $1000 fixing a $5000 car to make it look better.

eurotrailertras
driving down to vancouver, just outside the city limits
some lady didnt even have a rear windshield

yesterday at work in the parking lot (i wish i had a picture)
volks scirocco
hood was held down with bungee cords from the front end strapped around the 1 windshield wiper
carpeting was strapped on to which would now comprise of the roof with metal belts
left wheel well was rusted to hell
not to mention the interior
quite a show

We should start a thread like the rice one, pics of cars with the worst body damage still being driven. Who will win for best pic of most badly damaged car?
