Your computer has to have a video output and your TV has to have a corresponding video input. My laptop has S-Video out and it works fairly well.

I use windows media center, run component cables from comp to tv and audio from comp to receiver. Works great, media centre allows you to do all the recording, pausing ect of a pvr

what kind of tuner do you use? as I am trying to figure this mumble jumble out. I have been looking at a few
here are my choices
PowerColor Theater 550 PRO PCI Express
ATI Technologies Inc.'s ALL-IN-WONDER X1900
ATI Technologies Inc.'s ALL-IN-WONDER X1800 XL
ATI Technologies Inc.'s ALL-IN-WONDER X800 XL
ATI Technologies Inc.'s ALL-IN-WONDER 2006 PCI EXPRESS
I dont have a AGP on the mother board so i guess im stuck with either PCI or PCI X |

I have a cheap MSI tv tuner and I like it a lot, I had an ATI one before and wasn't really impressed. the MSI has a lot of good features and software for the price. ATI is great for video cards but I've never been a big fan of their software / drivers.

I use a Hauppage 150 capture card, Im not really happy with the quality though and will probably upgrade it.
