| What does it take to get them insured and into rebuilt status? Do all they need is a passed inspection report? Can any shop do this type of inspection? |

In the old days it used to be that simple.
Now you have to go to a shop that's authorized by the province to do the inspection. As well, they may demand inspections at certain points throughout the repair. I would think you're looking at $300-$500 in inspection costs alone. |

I was considering buying a Talon that was in a front end collision, and i talked to my buddy that owns a collision repair shop and he said you have to take it for 2-3 inspections which add up to $500-$800. I cant remember exactly what he said but its just not worth all the work and money. When you want to sell it you have to say its a salvage title which makes the value something like 30% lower i believe.
Unless you get a really good deal on a car you want to keep for quite a while its just not worth it. |

It's typically not worth it unless it's a somewhat newer car of value. I know myself, I stopped fixing write-offs when these changes came about.

The Salvage Inspection costs about $320, and is very strict. If there is any tiny little thing wrong, it will fail. Some of the items on my fail list were a crack in my tail light, and a bolt missing from the stereo amplifier. Also on the list is the factory tint, and my rear tires failed because they have less than 80% tread remaining.
The car essentially has to be as good as brand new (read MINT) or better, in order to pass.
I would have to agree that unless you are getting a vehicle for an absolute steal of a deal, it is just not worth it. |

| Salvage inspections generally run around $400. They are intensive and thurough. They require a four wheel alignment with printout, full out of province inspection and have the frame within factory spec. If any one has any specific questions let me know, I do these inspections for a living |
