anybody ever buy a car from e-bay?

mr_sars
I've never bought anything that costs as much as car, nor will I ever spend that much on eBay. With all the horror stories that you hear from that site I wouldn't have a problem with spending a bit more money to buy locally. Buying local would allow you to see the car in person and have it properly inspected at a shop.

What would you do if you spent 10K on a car, and a thousand or so to ship it to your house just to find out it's a lemon?

well its the same thing as importing from japan you just have to take a risk.
im asking because you see amazing cars on there for a fraction of the price you would get them here.

What are you looking at getting?

I bought my car in the States and could help you out a bit if needed.

I would really recommend finding an owners/enthusiasts website with a classifieds section as opposed to eBay though. Usually better to deal with and they know the car a lot better.

Yeah I'm gonna have to definitely agree with buying from an enthusiasts website. If you're serious about buying a car from eBay they advise you to use an escrow service.

Check out these two links if you're interested.

i dont have a exact car in mind but i was just looking on there and they got like 94 twin turbo rx7 for under 15gs :dunno:

if your going to buy a car sight unseen make sure you have a person looking you trust take a look at it.

You should really fly there and look at it when your goign to be investing near 15g's.

Also make sure you know the extra costs certain cars will require.
ex. the fd3s needs a few modifications to make it pass the federal inspection which is not all that cheap.

In addition budget for the 7%gst and 6.1% duty you have to pay.
