aw, poor baby! Theres a spec of dust on your giant diamond :(
On a more serious note, I'd gladly take that ol' nightmare off your hands  |

i think you're missing something |

| People who own those cars generally don't work on them. |

| It will still be a carb tuner's nightmare, whether they own it or not. |

| Definate pain in the ass, expensive as well, once you realize that to change the emulsion tubes on one weber 45 dcoe is 40 dollars a pop... (Even tuning one weber can be a pain in the ass...) |

hahhahaa welcome to my world
i've been trying to tune these blasted Webers for over a year now!!! damn hard when the only guy with a setup similar to mine lives in calgary and Silverstone has only used em' on Toyotas!
I'm running dual DCOE 45's...tuning nothing near as extensive as the lambos but damn do they sound good @ WOT! Here's a recent pic minus filter relocator & MSD.

heres a picture of my setup...

All I can say is I can't figure out for the life of me why with 60f9 idle jets it runs REALLY DAMN RICH. But when I knock it down to 55f8 idles the car won't run at all... :dunno:
36mm venturi's
F9-60 idles
f-11/F-16 E-tubes
155 air corrector
170 fuel main
2.5-3 psi of fuel
on a stock port 12a rotary.
Such a damn PITA.... lol |

dammmmnnnn nice to see im not the only one :D wow.
DCOE 45?
So...interesting. won't idle when you use 55f8's how about some 50F10's...thats what im using.
185 mains
F18 e-tubes
130 air correctors
4mm aux venturi w/36mm chokes
you're more than welcome to try my 50f10's and see how they work out for you.
I finally got my 40mm chokes from the states! These carbs are defintly overkill on my engine UNLESS you run some bigass chokes...but i need minimum 150-155 air correctors
what do you have for spare jets?
where do you get your parts from?
I love my Webers...defintly more fun than having a computer run your car for you. |

Yup its a 45 DCOE. Isn't a 50f10 idle jet a richer mixture at idle than a 60f9?
the other jets I have are:
f-11, f-7, f-16 Etubes
155, 170 air correctors
170, 145 mains
f9-85, f9-60, f8-55 idle jets
I get my parts from Rotaryshack.com (he is a one man operation and helps me out a ton with the tuning), http://www.racetep.com/ is a great site, as well as http://www.piercemanifolds.com/ and www.Redlineweber.com |

| one of the techs at work owns a late 70's camaro with a 343 engine with carbs but hes also running twin turbos from a 300z and he says that tuning that is excruciating hard. |

dan...i just got this from a guy helping me setup my shit. I told him what you gave me and this is what he said.
Air corrector too small, should never be smaller than main jet
Choke way too small!!
Try adjusting fuel mixture on idle with the idle mixture screws
more fuel pressure 3.5 or 4
Emulsion tubes too lean try F2 or much richer one
This carb is on the limit for this engine needs a bigger 48/50/55 really or better two Weber DCOE's might only be 1.3 litre engine but they drink like a 3.0 V8 small block which is why they come with a 4 barrel downdraught as standard from MAzda.

Hmmm,
well I have been told to run 36mm venturi's (all the other 12a RX-7 stockport guys run these).
Then I have read to calculate mains by using this formula:
Venturi size X 4 = so I got a 145 main from that.
Then to calculate the air corrector size:
main jet + 60 = 205 air corrector...
But then I have in my notes here that for racing you should run a smaller air corrector jet, and a larger main resulting in more fuel flowing across the whole range...
But what you source told you is somewhat wrong, because im using a 1.1L 12a rotary engine not a 1.3L 13b. I have messaged several companies in the past to get different jet starting points. They seem to be very comparable to my current jetting. But its deffinately worth a shot trying a different air corrector because the thing runs pig rich...
To be honest im not very determined to get this thing running perfectly anymore, just because ill be going FI turbo soon. At that time I plan on trying to sell most of my drive train... |
