integra with $2000 budget - Click HERE for Original Thread

Buddy of mine just bought a 1990 5 speed integra for 1300 bucks, the owner wanted $3400 (yeah right!). anyway he had it mechanically inspected and found 3 cylinders registering 170 and the first reading 190 after a compressin test, other then that the car runs fine. not bad for 240 00kms, he has 2 grand to spend on it, where should he put the money to make it go for that amount?

safety and reliablity would be my main concern for a car that old.

spark plugs+wires/timing belt/water pump/cam+crank seals if that hasn't been done. that'll run you about $400 -give or take.

suspension work: bushings/bearings/struts/springs/shocks/cv boots/etc. alignment alone is like $80 at the dealership.

there's a lot of maintenance required for a $1300 car. you get what you pay for. the extra $700 you have left may not go far unless you caught a decent deal.

if you can't find anything wrong with that car, I'd suggest putting it away in case the car every breaks down and dude needs some emergency cash to fix the car.

exactly like the others have said

check the tires as well. make sure the tread depth is sufficient, as well as any damage or improper wear
last thing we need is a guy blowing a tire while going down the whitemud
