So I picked up a Bel RX-65 radar detector... it's been a while since I've had a detector (had some old school ones back in the day).
Got some questions for those who are in the know... other than laser, what radar bands do e-town cops use? Is photo Ka? My friend turns off X band completely in the city... is this a good idea? Also what do the RCMP use in Alberta?
Hopefully this info will help react to signals I pick up. |

| X is useless, only thing from my experience that cops always use is Ka. Thats what my scanner always reads when cops roll by or when they use laser. |

| K and Ka. X has basically been bombarded from other sources in urban environments and has become useless. The RCMP only use K. |

X is only used by cops in dinky little towns out in the middle of nowhere. My radar detector has a "No X" setting for in town here, and a Highway setting which includes X.
X is used in motion detectors for building security systems and in stores to open the sliding doors for you when you walk up to them, so you'll get lots of useless X reportings in town.
Some cops also have a POP radar reading as well, but apparently it's not admissable in court, so they use it for a preliminary reading before using another band to nail you officially. |

untrue: depends on the detachment.
all through sask they are using Ka, as of today because that's where i just came from.
I've seen the manitoba Rc's use K, and Ka depending on the car, and Alberta as well |
